Expectations and frustrations

Last night I had this dream and I saw myself going up the mountain with my husband and as we went up the mountain to the snow I saw the most beautiful waterfall flowing in the bush and the scenery was just beautiful and as we reached base camp there were many people waiting to go on the ski lift to the mountain but they were having to wait because as I watched the snow was melting so fast because the sun was coming out so strong the the snow was melting like right before your eyes and people were no longer able to ski.  People were getting frustrated because they had come to go skiing and now no longer were able to, but for others like myself I so was enjoying the scenery that because the snow was melting there was so much beauty all around.  At the same time there was aeroplanes flying around doing acrobatic flying in the sky and other people were in stands watching the planes flying around.

As I looked at this this morning, I believe we are coming into a time where the Glory of God is going to be revealed but its not what we were expecting or going to see, and like those who had gone with an expectation of skiing and got frustrated,  you have a choice to make; a) you can get frustrated because of your expectations not met, or b) you can go with what the Lord is doing which will be different than what you expected but very beautiful and a lot of fun.

So often because of our expectations, it limits us to what is right in front of us and the beauty that is around us.

Times are changing and things are not going to be as we expected and like John the Baptist said prior to Jesus coming, “what did you come out to the desert to see”.  For many we need to shift our focus to how we have seen things happening to how the Lord sees things happening.  And in that shift I believe we will see so much beauty and so much fun that the expectations we once had will be forgotten about by the new things that the Lord has for each one of us.

"Winds of Crisis"

Pray for the “Winds of Crisis” to be stilled.

Last night I had this dream and I woke up frightened because of what I saw.
I saw Isis attacking New Zealand, I saw a Maori man rising up like that of Isis full of anger, I saw people running up a hill to get away, but then I saw people handing in their guns in a gun amnesty and others holding onto theirs because if they didn’t they had nothing to protect themselves.

It was a frightening dream that woke me up and got me praying.

I thought of the scripture in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that says “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

I got up and I prayed until I got the peace of God that passes all understanding and no longer aligned or come into agreement to the fear that wants to come in and disrupt  and cripple with a dream such as this.

We are in a time I believe, where things that are happening around us can seek to cause fear and disrupt our peace and trust in the Lord and the Lord is wanting to teach us how to stand through the trials, whatever trials that we may face, whether its an attack from Isis, whether its cancer, whether its financial crisis, whatever it may be.

Recently when we were in China (August) I was woken away with a very powerful and very frightening vision that I saw and the words that came in this vision were “Winds of Crisis are coming, watch what the animals do and do the same” and as I watched I saw the animals running for the base of a huge mountain and burrowing into the base of the mountain as something very powerful was coming from above that was going to cause a lot of destruction and if we didn’t burrow in like the animals into the mountain then we would not survive.  This vision was so powerful I got up and wrote to our daughter Kate back in New Zealand straight away telling her I loved her as in this vision I didn’t know whether I would ever see her again.

We are in a time where ‘winds of crisis’ are blowing everywhere bringing with it a lot of destruction, but like the animals that ran for the base of the mountain, we too have to learn to run and hide in Jesus as He is our mountain, He is our strong tower, He is our fortress our protector in whom we can trust.
Heb 12:18-24  "You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm;... but you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God.  You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly... to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel."
And as I prayed this morning and came to the mountain - came to Jesus, my peace was restored, my trust was restored, my faith restored and my rest came again.
Deut 20:1-2  “When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them because the Lord your God who brought you up out of Egypt will be with you.
When you are about to go into battle the priest shall come forward and address the army.
He shall say “Hear, O Israel today you are going into battle against your enemies.  Do not be fainthearted or afraid, do not be terrified or give way to panic before them.  For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”

Its at times like this that we need to be reminded of the truth that sets us free, that our God is greater and He is able to fight our battles for us.  We need to be reminded of who our God is and the stories from the Bible give us courage and hope and reminders that if God is for us, then who can be against us.
But as in the dream last night where I saw people laying down their weapons, we need to lay down our weapons of war that would fight against in retaliation to anger or coming into agreement with fear and intimidation, whatever is coming against us and pickup our weapons of warfare of faith, hope and love and those seen in Eph 6 of the helmet of salvation, that we are saved and have eternal life, of the breastplate of righteousness, that we are set free from sin, of our feet fitted with the gospel of peace, of the belt of truth, of the word of God the sword to tear down strongholds such as that of fear,  of the shield of faith that our God is able to do what He said He would do and bring the opposite spirit to what the world is bringing.  We need to pick up forgiveness, healing and restoration and as I prayed this morning I prayed for forgiveness to be released in this nation because people only fight and take up arms because of some type of offense and hurt and we need to be a people who forgives our brother and listens to the hurts and prays for those hurts to be healed.

So I urge you to pray for our nation, I urge you to awake to the circumstances and warnings that the Lord is giving through so many voices and not just carry on with life as if nothing is going to happen.  I urge you to as it says in 2 Chronicles to humble yourselves and pray,
  • pray for healing in our land,
  • pray for forgiveness to arise
  • pray for His perfect love that casts out all fear to come into hearts of man that the people of God would not become fainthearted or afraid and not give way to panic but come into peace and trust in the Lord no matter the crisis that may be before us.
  • pray for whatever the Lord puts on your heart to pray.
Jesus spoke to the storm in the boat and it calmed down and the Lord is calling to us to speak to those winds of crisis and tell them to be calmed in Jesus Name and we do that through prayer and knowing the authority we have in Christ Jesus.

You wouldn't believe it but straight after writing my blog this morning I felt to go for a walk ( that doesn't happen very often at 6am :) ) and as I walked outside in the country between Christchurch and Lincoln on the road was walking an angry abusive Maori man swearing all down the road and had I not prayed earlier and prayed for healing and forgiveness and because peace came into my heart from my earlier dream I might have not gone out to walk as he was right outside our place but because I now had peace I went outside unafraid and walked alongside him and as I did I saw this monument right opposite of where we are staying which blew my mind which had a plaque on it saying  "Let peace cultivate our fields". I saw these as a sign from The Lord of confirmation of my blog.  So cool

"And this is love; that we walk in obedience to his commands."

Why do we do what we do?

2 John 6  “And this is love; that we walk in obedience to his commands.”
1 John 5:3  “This is love for God, to obey his commands.  And his commands are not burdensome for everyone born of God overcomes the world.

Jim and I have travelled down to Christchurch area for a time, why?  Because the Lord was directing our feet in this direction.  End of story.  But why?  What has He got for us here?  What are we ‘doing’ here?  Why spend the money to come down here when we don’t see the finances coming in that will be needed to cover the trip?  All sorts of questions arise as we step out in faith but end up not being able to answer all the questions that arise from various directions, various people in their hearts and our own, and yet we come and we come simply in obedience not knowing the outcome but knowing who our Lord is and that He has good plans for us.

Recently the Lord gave me a dream and it led me to the story of Jonah and his refusal to go where the Lord told him to go and the consequences that happened because of disobedience and then finally repentance came and he went where God had originally called him to go.  He didn’t go initially because of fear I believe and for many of us we don’t step out into what the Lord calls us to do because of some type of fear, but then because of that fear it cripples us in some form until we come to a place of repentance and trust in the Lord and finally do what He calls us to do.  When we do, like Jonah, I believe we will see things we never dreamed of or believed for.

A few years back we believed we were to go to China and it was the ‘last’ money that Jim and I had as such and so it was a huge step and once again we didn’t know why we were to go but we went out of obedience and eventually we understood why we were to go and it grew us immensely in our faith in the Lord to the point that when the Lord called us to go to Africa for three months once again with no money coming in or knowing the country or what we were to do there,  but because of seeing the provision in the previous trips, we had the faith rise up in us to step out again and we saw absolutely amazing things happen on that trip that we never dreamed of.  God is faithful and is able to perform all that he says he will do, if we will only but ‘obey’ not knowing the outcome.

There was an old song that was sung “Trust and obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus” and it is so true.  We so often don’t know the outcome of faith, but faith requires an action on our part in order to see the promises come true.  We have promises over this trip to Christchurch, and at this point we can’t see them but we are here by faith, not in what we can do, but knowing that our Lord is faithful and will do what He said He will do.  I write this not only to encourage others but ourselves in the Lord as we need to be reminded of what the Lord has done in the past to help us keep going in Him, to keep believing in Him when we may not see it yet.

May the Lord richly bless each one of you as you step out in obedience and love for Jesus into what he calls you each one to do.

Remember from where you have fallen.

The disciples when Jesus called them, dropped their nets and followed him and yet for us we sit there and try and work it all out, try and plan everything, finish things in order that we can go, etc etc.

Recently the Lord has been talking to us about going to Christchurch and we have stepped out in faith once already and gone and when there and since then, we received so many more words from the Lord about going down there and yet we sit here and try and work it all out, instead of just getting up and going.  We have so many practical things we need to deal with, so many things we are 'responsible' for, and yet what comes to mind is the scripture of Jesus inviting people to the wedding feast and yet each one was busy with his own thing and couldn't come and so the invite went out to others.

Are we so busy with our own planning, processing, thinking long term instead of a simple step of faith and allowing God to make the next ones, etc that when Jesus calls us we have so many excuses as to why we can't go?  And when he calls us, do we then try and work it out in 'our own strength' instead of from a place of simple faith and trust that God will provide in all the areas that we need provision for?

Oh, so deep and yet so simple.

We do it on so many levels that we don't even realise that we are now coming from a place of striving, of trying to work it all out, of trying in our own strength to fulfil and 'do' what the Lord said that we no longer come from a place of simple faith and trust, but rather suddenly find ourselves doing it in mans strength to do what the Lord wants us to do.  And once again we become 'doers' of the word.

Revelation 2 keeps coming to mind this week verse 4:
"Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have lost your first love.  Remember therefore from where you have fallen, repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lamp stand from its place, unless you repent....To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life which is in the midst of the paradise of God."

The place of 'first love' is one of simplicity, of just doing what the Lord said to do, of not questioning every detail because we trust that He will work it all out and has gone before us.  First love is a place of safety, of security, of knowing that its all in control, of uninhibited abandonment.

Romans 14:22  "Everything that does not come from faith is sin"  And once again Jim and myself find ourselves repenting this morning as we realise that we are not stepping out in faith, but rather trying to 'work it all out'.  Our heart is right before the Lord of wanting to do what He wants us to do, but in that place, we so easily step into sin that we need to turn and repent as He shows us again how easily we are not moving from a place of faith and simple trust, but now trying to work it all out.

So in sharing our journey and what the Lord is saying to Jim and I, may it be of some use to some of you out there.  Bless you heaps as you journey day by day in the Lord, as He opens your eyes to things that you quickly move into without even realising it, and that He continues to take you from glory to glory as you trust in Him.

A Quantum Leap Season for New Zealand

Quantum Leap... a sudden and significant change or increase; something, sudden, spectacular and vitally important, a sudden highly significant advance.... breakthrough!  (taken from Anthony Eddy's declaration booklet )

We are in a season of much change, much shifting, sudden-lies, alignment to the purposes and plans of The Lord.  Be willing to move with what The Lord is doing.  There will be change in many areas, be willing to move with the changes.  And you will see the Glory of The Lord revealed through your obedience to what He is saying and doing.

God is a good God and has good plans for you,  but not only for you but also for this nation and the nations of the world.  New Zealand is a forerunner nation which will take what The Lord reveals to other nations and there will be a 'trading' of the different things that different nations have, that will bring a fullness to the revelation of the glory of The Lord.

Be ready to move with what you believe The Lord is saying, but also in the changes seek the counsel of those around you that carry wisdom and advice from a heavenly perspective and not a worldly perspective, remembering that our God is a God who can do all He said He would do.  We are a people of promise, children and descendants of Abraham and we are called to be blessed but in order to receive that blessing, sometimes we may be asked to step out of our 'homeland', those places of comfort, where we are used to dwelling, and step out of the boat like Peter and see God take our hand and lead us on.  I know this is never easy but in it The Lord he will make the way and he will make it easy in its right time.  Don't try to run ahead of the promises of God, let him lead you by His peace.  He is not one who comes with pressure, stress and so much challenge that you feel you can't do it, but he comes in a way that gently encourages you, pushes you on, and takes you by the hand.  It may feel at times like a huge step of faith but He will come in that place and you will be amazed at what The Lord will do through you as you step out.

I believe we are in for exciting and challenging times and it's a time that we need to know who we are in Christ.  Our 'identity' as a christian will be challenged but strengthened in the process of it all if we stand firm in who we are in Christ and what His word says.  There are winds of crisis coming and its important that we hold onto what is good, that we stand firm using the weapons of our warfare as found in Eph 6.  We are in a war, a war for our children, our families, relationships, for truth and integrity etc.  We may not feel like we are in a 'war' as known by the world, but we are in a war to see Heaven here on the earth released that will change the world we live in, one of reconciliation, restoration, healing, of hope, of faith.

As a Christian we have the answer that so many are crying out for right now, and I encourage you to stand in boldness and in faith and declare the truth to situations, to people, to this nation.  Our God is good and He loves all His children and His desire is that none perish.  Pray, Pray, Pray for those around you, pray for the situations that you know about that need a touch from The Lord and see Him answer your prayers.  But not only pray but also act if you are able to help those people you see in need as we are a people not just of talk but of action.
God answers your prayers - just believe!  And He just loves to honour those who honour him and you will not be put to shame as you trust in Him.(Psalm 25)

Many many blessings in this season!

If you cause some damage, take responsibility and fix it.

How many of you have gone into the supermarket and come out and found your car damaged due to somebody else and they have just driven off and not left a message or anything?  How did that make you feel?

Last night I had a dream and I saw a parked car and someone had damaged it and walked off without leaving a note or anything and so when the owner went to get the car, they found it had damage done to it, that someone had to pay for.
It wasn’t a big deal as the bulk of it would be covered by insurance but there was still the excess that someone had to pay for.  And that somebody was now the owner and yet it wasn’t the owners fault.  The person who had caused it wasn’t owning up to what they had done or taken their responsibility to repair the damage.

How many of us damage other peoples ministries/churches/individuals (as cars often represent those things in dreams) and walk off without so much as a note of apology that you had caused some damage?  How many of us put dings into ministries/churches/people, of slander and gossip or whatever it might be, and we are causing damage to others and yet we just walk off without any recompense leaving someone else to clean up the mess and pay for the damage caused, that was not their fault or responsibility?

Some of the damage we cause is often just an accident and we didn’t mean to do it, but we still need to be a people who take ownership to our mistakes and not let others take the fall for what we did.

Powerful word.

Someone sent me a dream the other day and I asked if I could share it and I share it now as it is a similar word coming through.

“I had this dream where I was watching several men in charge of the running of an ocean liner line up for inspection.  All dressed in their white uniforms.  It all seemed proper and in order until a new member joined them.  At the time of the new member joining one of the long standing crew members was tragically killed.  The next day when it was time for them to all line up on deck for the captains inspection, only the new member was there to start off with.  Finally the others came out and informed the new crew member that they had had a meeting with their boss and they had come to the conclusion that since nothing like this had happened before then it had to be his fault and began to drag him away.  I kept trying to tell them it wasn't him, that it was one of them, but they weren’t listening and I also heard the new guy declaring it wasn’t him, but again they wouldn’t listen and the men began to torcher the guy.”

We often blame others for things that have happened and some of those things that happen are just accidents or perhaps our own fault, but instead we get together and gossip and blame others and walk off  without knowing all the facts, leaving others taking the responsibility for something that wasn’t their fault.

Let’s be a people who own up to our mistakes and take responsibility and trust that God will come in, as the insurance so to speak, and fix what we cannot fix.  There will be a bit of a cost to you to walk in truth, but in that God will come in and deal with the rest that you cannot fix.

Romans 8:28  "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose"

Insidious - what does it mean?

  • Intended to entrap or beguile
  • stealthily treacherous or deceitful
  • operating or proceeding in an inconspicuous or seemingly harmless way but actually with a grave effect.           (

The other day I had this dream and in this dream I was crossing a boarder into a new country with a team of other people, someone else was the leader.  We had radioed ahead to 'control' to check and see if it was alright to cross the boarder but at that time had not yet heard back from them, and the new country's people were welcoming and so we entered the new country without waiting to hear back from headquarters.  As soon as we crossed the boarder into the new country, the 'supposed welcoming people' turned and started to kill us all and as that happened, the radio came back from head quarters warning us not to go into the country as it was hostile, but it was too late.

As I have processed this dream, I believe there is a warning the Lord is wanting to show not only myself, but all of us.
Often we believe it is alright to make the next move because it feels good and it seems right, but we have not yet waited to hear from the Lord or those people around us whom we have relationship with, if it is of the Lord.
Often we can quickly move onto the next thing but we have not yet learnt the things the Lord would have us learn.  Or perhaps we are just thinking of ourselves and not others that may be involved or perhaps need to be involved, in our decision making process.
I know for myself and Jim we have many times wanted to move ahead with what we believe the Lord is saying but have sought the counsel of others and in the waiting process, the Lord has taught us so many things and it has protected us from making mistakes.  We have had many prophetic words about the future and so we know that they will happen, but often we want to try to make them happen. But in the eagerness to step into what we believe the Lord is saying, often we may not seek the counsel of others, we may not wait to hear clearly from the Lord what He is saying and we jump ahead thinking it lines up with some of the words the Lord has given and it may do, but it may just have to wait on a timing factor or perhaps the Lord has a better way,  if we would just wait and allow Him to make the way.

For myself right now I know the Lord is moving people, shifting people and strategically placing people, for what is coming, but I believe we are not individuals doing our own thing, we are part of a body.   As a body we need to seek the counsel of others of the same spirit and same body, before we jump ahead into those things as it effects not only you but those around you.  And when it is right, you will get the yes and amen from those around you, but you may need to wait to receive that confirmation, but in the end everyone will benefit.
Humility is a huge part of this and that is about listening to what others have to say, not just telling people what you are doing and expect their approval, but be a person who listens to advice, and doesn't think they have it all, but is willing to learn and grow.

Prov 13:14  "The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death."

Prov 14:12  "There is a way that seems right to a man but its end is the way of death"

Insidious - The enemy is insidious - deceptive, clever and tries to trap us in ways oftentimes that seem good but we need to keep alert to the work and schemes of the enemy that may lead us away from the counsel of others.

"Insulting the Spirit of Grace" Heb 10:29

Something I have been pondering on lately is a verse that came to mind:

Heb 6:4  "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened and have tasted the heavenly gift and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God and put Him to an open shame."

It is a powerful scripture and one that brings with it a judgement that will happen and so I have been pondering it in the light of the 'grace' thinking that is going around and what is our part to play in our relationship with the Lord and the covenant we are now walking in with the Lord.
I believe for myself that once you have tasted of the true heavenly gift, you so want to remain in that place with the Lord because actually nothing else matters in life and yet I also know for myself how easy it is to wander away from truth that sets me free down a path of deception or temptation that I no longer do what I know is right to do in the Holy Spirit.
I have no answers here yet but wanting to share my ponderings as it is a verse that the Lord has brought to mind.

Heb 10:26  "If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgement and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.  Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.  How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that has sanctified him and who has insulted the Spirit of Grace?
For we know him who said 'It is mine to avenge, I will repay' and again "The Lord will judge his people".  It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

At this time in the spirit there is a call to persevere in the things of God, to keep going and not give up, and at times this is not easy to do but I really want to encourage you in this.

Heb 10:32  continues "remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering.  Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution, at other times you stood side by side with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.  So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.  You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised."

God has promised us so much and yet we give up at some of the hurdles we come across and we throw away our confidence that we had at first and we succumb to temptations in all sorts of ways, such as unforgiveness, bitterness, laziness, gluttony, give up on promises that have been given, whatever it may be, and in these times we can succumb to insulting the spirit of grace without even realising it.  And when we continue in these things we no longer receive the blessing that has been promised through the new and living covenant which when we look back to what we first received and how we first felt in the Lord, realise how amazing and beautiful it is.
Let me encourage to keep going because as it says "You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised."  He wants to give us so much blessing it is too much to contain!

"If it feels good then I will do it...."

Recently I have been challenged into a role I am not used to or specifically want to do and I am finding it difficult and at times want to run, but it is really good for me as I am learning and growing and learning to draw on Jesus in a whole new way.  But there have been times when I have wanted to run away and just be ‘free’ to do what I believe I am called to be.  But then the Lord reminds me that actually Sarah, this is what I am calling you to right now.
I am continually reminded of a quote that Heidi Baker says “Lord I don’t do children”, and He replied “you do now”.
But in the process I am seeing around me  some people in the Christian church that this is very much the case that when challenged with something that they don’t want to do, then they move on instead of sticking with what the Lord has called them to or the place He has put them in.  And in this process we have to ask ourselves, is this actually about us, or is it about doing the will of Jesus, the one who calls us and equips us for every good work that he has put in front of us?  Many a time as I look around me, I find a very ‘selfish’ body that really in reality it is all about them and what they can get out of it, rather than about what they can do and serve or give, in order to see the Kingdom of God advance and Jesus name be lifted high rather than their own.

I asked someone recently, “if I asked you to clean the toilets for a month, would you do it?”  The answer was interesting.  It posed the question of serving one another and of giving not expecting anything in return.  And is Jesus in me, the person in whom was asking her to help?  Poses lots of questions really.
Often I find myself seeing people willingly giving when they want to give and grudgingly giving, if at all, when it doesn’t benefit themselves in some way.
Lets be a people who rejoice in all things and serve
God cheerfully
I see it is very much a case in society in general today and I hesitate that it is rubbing off in the Christian church.  This sense of “if it feels good then I will do it” but if it doesn’t, then they wont.  So how does that line up with my precious Jesus who of course didn’t want to go to the cross and cried out to the Lord for it to be taken from Him, but submitted himself to the will of His father and to those persecuting him, as we are called to submit to those around us and more so to those in authority?

I want to encourage you from my own experience that when I have submitted to those in authority over me and humbled myself and cleaned a bathroom for a month, or done what people have asked of me when I have just wanted to run, then I have found I have always learnt precious lessons in what Jesus was showing me through those times.   I have also found that when my attitude was in alignment to the will of God, that of rejoicing in all circumstances, then His supernatural grace has come and given me everything I have needed to help me walk the journey.  But when my attitude has not been that encouraging, it has been a very difficult journey.  And so I have learnt through all situations and I encourage people to give and serve out of a grateful heart of everything Jesus has given us,  a heart full of thanksgiving and allowing His grace to come in your time of need and not to run when it ‘doesn’t feel good’ but rather be a people who others can rely on,  a people who serve one another as if serving the Lord, and when you do, God will lift you up.

Col 3:24  "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.  It is the Lord Christ you are serving."

Eph 6:7  "Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free."

Grand Design

The Lord has been talking recently to me about houses and different states of houses.  Some are quirky with all sorts of really cool things that are happening in them, some are being built and are yet unfinished, some the windows are boarded up and need the boards on the windows removed.  Some don’t yet have the power on and it is dark with a thief in the  darkness waiting.  There was one  that was perfect on pretty much everything except the fridge (often represents the heart) was too small.
The initial plan

In the process of thinking about different houses and the different stages each house was at, I thought about the British Programme “Grand Design”.  I love watching this programme and seeing the ideas and the plans and where it originally starts with the dreams and the vision of how it will be, but along the process the building often takes longer than expected, costs run higher than projected, workers come and go, the question of whether to continue comes up and eventually pushed through as they cannot give up and walk away on everything that has already been invested. Often the owner will end up himself finishing the work as they cannot afford to hire anybody.  Everything is put into finishing the project amidst a lot of stress, a lot of questions, a lot of highs and lows as the journey continues.  But in the end you see this finished house, just amazing and you sit there and say – yes it was worth it to see what they have now.   Just beautiful and amazing and as you watch someones else dream become a reality you wish you had the money you could afford to buy it.
In the process

I believe at the moment the Lord is wanting to encourage people to keep going and to continue to believe in and see the grand design that the Lord has for you in your life and the call he has on your life. It is not yet finished and as it says in James  that ‘perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete not lacking anything.’   The Lord doesn’t want us lacking anything, and like the Grand Design buildings, each one is unique and different from another, none the same and it takes time to perfect, for it to be all that it is meant to be.

I believe there are people who:
  • feel discouraged for whatever reason whether it be a lack of money or a lack of workers to help finish the job.
  • There are those whose hearts have been hurt and broken in their vulnerability and so in the process have put up walls for protection but the Lord wants to come and replace those walls of  protection and make you transparent again trusting in Him for His protection not in the walls that you have put up to protect yourself.
  • There are those who are lacking the power at the moment and have no light and it is dark and the Lord wants to come and bring the light into the darkness.
  • There are those who seem like everything is great and just about perfect but the Lord wants to expand the capacity in your heart.

I believe The Lord also is wanting to teach and cement in us to be a people who walk in the Truth of the Word and not base everything on how we feel or on what we see.  That we need to be a people who walk by faith in the word and not by sight.  Many of us can function from a place on how we are feeling emotionally and emotions are not wrong, but when they take us down a path that does not line up with the truth of God and what He is saying about you or to you or into life, then you are functioning from an emotional place rather than a place of victory in Christ.
Sometimes you can come into a place of self pity instead of looking at Jesus and giving thanks for your situation and your circumstances which when you do this, lifts you out of the miry clay and sets you on a solid foundation, which is and can only be found in Jesus.

I too am seeing that there are those who live from one encounter to the next encounter in the Lord and so when we are not experiencing that ‘encounter’ we believe we are not in communion in Christ and that is a lie that pushes us looking for the next encounter and discouraged when you are not feeling His presence as you have before.  He is always with you and He has never left you, just because you may not experience him or feel Him in a way you want to, does not mean He is not there.  And I believe He is wanting to take people deeper in this arena and teach people to live from the word and truth of His word and not just from the experience or the encounter.

So Lord I pray for each and every one in the different situations.  Lord come and minister to the broken hearted, to those who have been discouraged and needing your encouragement right now.  Meet them today with you love and your provision and your grace, which is enough to meet all our needs.  Lord release breakthrough where breakthrough is needed.  Lord give them joy in the journey.  Bring around them people who would encourage and help in whatever way they need help today.  Thank you Lord that you hear our cry.
Psalm 10:17;
The finished house!
“You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted, you encourage them and you listen to their cry.
Lord thank you that you fight the battles for us and so we hand them over to you our every situation and we trust you to come and refresh and renew us in your love.
Zeph 3:17
"The Lord, your God, is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will renew you in His love; He will exult over you with loud singing" (NRSV)
Thank you Jesus that you are teaching us not only to live from encounter to encounter but from the truth of your word that sustains us and encourages us on in you.
Thank you Jesus!

Young and Naive : I Choose to Believe!

The past several weeks have been rather challenging for me and with the things that I find I am hitting in the spirit, it is difficult to not to 'retailiate' back.  (Not altogether successful I might add).
I have been praying and asking The Lord for a long time now to 'open my eyes so that I would see' and now that prayer is being answered, but perhaps not in the way I had hoped but I know that it is good for me as it will grow me more in The Lord.

Years ago I got called 'young and naive', words I have never forgotten as it made me look at myself and question if I was.  I have just today realised again that I am and want to continue to be. In fact I pray that I will remain young and naive in my spirit, that I remain childlike all the days of my life in faith toward God.  To me this morning young and naive showed me that it was a place that I believed in what the Word says.  I believe we can have a christian society where we love one another, forgive one another, don't judge one another, where we can serve and love others above ourselves.  A world where I believe that we can have a community of believers that provide for each other in times of need.  A community of believers that don't just attract people who they like or are similar but one in which we see a cross section of people from all different walks of life, living and loving together.  I believe God is my Father and as such is my provider, not man.  I believe we can have relationship with my enemies in such a way we can lie down together and if that means that I am young and naive then praise God!

Why my eyes are being opened is that I am realising that there are very few people who not only believe it with their head but also in their heart and in their actions and it makes me cry as I am seeing a body of people fighting for their rights, walking away when offense is given or it gets too difficult and not willing to work it through, giving something to somebody but actually in their hearts expecting something in return and when they don't get back what they give then they hold it against people and withhold in the future.  My eyes are being opened to the state of the bride of Christ and I cry, I cry for a people who will not humble themselves to one another, let alone God.  I cry because I see broken relationships and hardness of heart and I cry because I find myself becoming the very thing that I don't want to become because of how people are not treating me as I would treat them.
As I open my heart to them and share the very depths of everything of me, and yet others withhold their heart to you and then use what you have given them in your vunerability and trust, against you.

And I cry out to The Lord and I say Lord what do I do with this.  I want my heart kept soft, I want to remain childlike and yet He is answering my question in my eyes being opened.  It makes me cry and if it makes me cry and I only see a bit, how does God handle it?

And then he reminds of of His son on the cross crying out "Father forgive them for they do not know what they do".  Oh how I need more love, more unconditional love, how I need more of His love in me in such a way that His mercy, his patience, His long suffering, His forbearance, His grace is sooooo abounding.  I don't want to be hardened in my heart and yet it is so easy to become like that when people use you, when people abuse you or misunderstand you and judge you, and yet in Hebrews 3:12  "See to it brothers and sisters that none of you has a sinful unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.  But encourage one another daily as long as it is called today so that none of you may be hardened by sins deceitfulness.  We have come to share in Christ if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the end."

And once again I am taken back to the cross and His mercy poured out for me, His love poured out for me, His paitence poured out for me, His very life poured out for me which gives me strength to keep going, to keep loving as He loves, to keep  believing in my thinking, to keep hoping for a bride that will love as He loves, that will forgive as He forgives, that will pour out their lives for the unlovely as He did and once again I surrender it all at the cross and give it to Jesus and so turn my eyes back to him and not at the things that take my eye away from being 'young and naive' , childlike in Him.  He is faith, hope and love and without these we have nothing.  I choose to believe by faith, in hope and in love for a bride, beautiful and shining, walking in unity, in restoration, in reconciliation, in surrender and giving to one another.  I choose to believe!

Passion and love for Jesus that changes the world around you.

The other day I had a vision and in this vision I saw curtains being pulled on windows from the outside and I saw this other lady taking over ministering to someone and she was shouting in 'love' to this other person.  As I have pondered on this and what it meant I believe  there is a warning and a reminder of what is important that The Lord wants me/us to take heed of.  Especially as we enter into times of seeing more miraculous things taking place around us, as we see the spirit moving in lives or the giftings being released in increase,  and we get 'busier' in the things of God, please take note of what I believe The Lord is wanting us to be aware of, which is to maintain and keep alive that 'first love' relationship with The Lord of Lords and King of Kings.

The windows that had curtains being pulled on it was the prophetic gifting being shut down and it led me to thinking of the scriptures in 1 Cor 13 about the gifts.  "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbol.  If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.  If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.....v8 "But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away...."

Unadulterated passion for Jesus - what does that look like?  It looks like a passion that effects everyone around you.    I remember as a young women in love with my soon to be husband, I was annoying in some ways to the people around me because I was so 'sickly in love'.
Often I can look around me and in churches there is good learning and teaching going on, good ministry happening in the lives of people around, but the passion and 'first love' for Jesus is rarely seen.  People want to serve Jesus which is great, people want to grow in giftings and see the miraculous happening around them, which too is great and so there is a certainly a love there that wants to serve Jesus, but the 'first love' that is infectious and consuming to those around you, I often struggle to find.   And yes we are all different, but whether your an introvert or an extrovert, you can tell someone who is passionately on fire for something whether it be a rugby match or Jesus.

I know for myself this is a reminder and a warning for me as recently some stuff has been happening in my world, things challenging those very things talked about as to what 'love is' and so I say to The Lord, please renew my 'first love', please keep me in a place of radical love that only comes from you.  That I don't want to be a server of God and a 'doer', but to remain a lover of God above all because out of being a lover all things flow in the right order.  By being a lover of God His love overflows in us which is "patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, is not rude, is not self-seeking, is not easily angered, keeps no record of wrongs.  Does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth, always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

We cannot do it in our own strength once again but it can be something we desire, something we pursue like any thing, there are things you decide you want to focus on, whether it be a date night with your husband so you maintain a good marriage, or a coffee with a friend or watching a movie, I can decide that I want to invest my time in and for my first love to be kept in a place of passion then I need to spend time with my lover of lovers, the King of Kings and in that my love and desire is renewed, my passion restored.  If we are not spending the time with the source of life, then how can we love and give life to the ones around us.  We can once again become busy spending time learning how to move in the gifts, learning to serve The Lord in all sorts of ways and see the fruit of that, but in that forget to spend time with the lover of our souls,  which in turn will effect the things that you may be currently seeing happening around you.

As we move into a season I believe of great  signs and miracles from Heaven,  please make sure you continue to spend time with the Lover.  Please make sure that in the busyness of what The Lord may be doing around you, please continue to make Him the number one in your life not what happens because of Him.

Can God highjack your day?

Last night I had a number of dreams/visions and in each one there was a scenario happening where there was opportunity to share the gospel, opportunity to warn someone of something I could see happening, opportunity to take advantage of but if we didn't act then that opportunity would be gone.  Opportunity to teach someone something that they were hiding from that they didn't need to.  So many opportunities and I thought of the scripture in Gal 6:10 which says "Therefore as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people especially to those who belong to the family of believers."  and in Eph 5:15 "Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.  Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what The Lord's will is."

Recently we were driving to Hamilton to go to church but along the way we saw a woman on the road who looked dejected and looked like she needed a lift.  She was going in the opposite direction.  We stopped to ask her if she needed a ride and she told us she was heading to Paroea, totally different direction about 40 mins away from where we were.  But we said, hop in we will take her.  It turned out to be an amazing day with all sorts of adventures that happened along the way but had we not stopped and picked her up, was not willing for our plan to be changed, we would have missed out on the blessing of that day that The Lord had for us, let alone helping someone in need.

Last night we were sharing at a group and what The Lord was bringing out was that we are so much in routine, we so much have a plan and direction of where we are going but in that if God were wanting to highjack your day, could He?  If He wanted you to do something else would you be available and willing for him to take you on a different path than you were planning to go?  Are we flexible to move with the wind of the Spirit as He leads and guides or do we have our plan and that is where we are heading?  Is there any room in your day for the Lords leading and guiding?

I believe The Lord is wanting to do something different than before, it is new wine for a new wineskin and in this we need to be willing for things to be changed.  We need to have a flexibility to move with what God is doing.  I believe too in our church services at present as a people you need to be willing to move with what the Holy Spirit is wanting to do and to let go of some of our preconceived ideas about how things are going to work as we are so used to the familiar pattern of our structures.  We need to make room for the Holy Spirit to do as He wants to do, no matter how that may look or how 'messy' it may seem and trust that the Holy Spirit knows what He is doing with His people.  We have recently held a three day gathering and in those three days every meeting was different than before, the blueprint was different in every meeting as the people were different, the needs that The Lord was ministering too was different, the Spirit was moving in a different way and so we had to move with what the Spirit was doing.  Yet in that we do not realise how much a plan we go to something with and our expectations are not met according to that plan and in that often we don't receive what The Lord is wanting to show us or do because we are being shifted out of our comfort zone.  God wants to shift us, he wants to show us things and often unless that shift is pretty radical we often don't receive what He is wanting to do.  Like when we are driving along the road heading in a direction in a hurry but it is not until a car accident happens in front of you that we are willing to suddenly stop and our day is changed and it is alright.  Sometimes God wants to do something radical that will make us stop and reassess what is important in life so that we can see clearly and go a new way.

So going back to my dreams and visions last night, let us be a people that take the opportunities that are in front of us.  Let us be a people who make room for the Holy Spirit to shift our day, to shift our thinking, to allow Him to change the road we may be travelling as He has many new adventures that He wants to show you and invite you to partner with Him that you might miss out on otherwise.  Let us be a people who are flexible and able to move with the opportunities that they Lord will bring your way whatever they may look like.  Many blessings!

It's about perspective and what we choose to focus on.

Out for a walk this morning with my camera and the Lord spoke to me:

Its all about perspective and what we choose to focus on.  We can all be looking at the same picture but see different things and it is what we choose to focus on is what we see and everything else can be a blur.   It can be right in front of us and we may not even see it.  Like the Kingdom of God, it is right in front of us but because we have our focus elsewhere we don't see it.

Recently I went to the movie Noah and I saw all the possibilities of faith, the encouragement of how big God was, even though the detail of the movie may not have been totally to the word of the Lord.   Others however hated the movie because they saw how it didn't line up with the word or for whatever reason, but we both saw the same movie and came away with different views.  Not saying either one is right or wrong but sometimes we need to change our focus in order to see how others may see things differently or perhaps to see the fullness of what might be right in front of us.

Oh I just want.... acceptance and approval

I had a vision the other day and in this vision I was visiting an old lady and others too came and visited her as she was sick and we were trying to help her, but as we were visiting her, the state gave her a new house and she suddenly got up from her 'sickness', changed clothes and literally became a new lively person and as it turned out she wasn't sick at all, but she wanted acceptance and in the state giving her a house, it made her feel like she was wanted and a part of something.

I believe this is a powerful word The Lord would bring about our true acceptance and love being found in Him and not in people or not in what we do or how people see us.
I believe many people are suffering some form of sickness, perhaps depression or some other things, but in reality if you felt accepted, loved or wanted, that sickness would suddenly leave you.  In reality you are just longing to be loved, which is fine as we are all wanting to be loved.

This really spoke to me of a past position I had once felt and not having a 'place' or a 'home' and I knew that if someone had said "Sarah, we want you, we want the giftings and talents you have" then I would have jumped aboard their ship, so to speak, but that didn't happen.   Instead The Lord had to teach me of who I am in Him fully and to value myself, without needing the acceptance or approval of man because Christ loves me and made me fearfully and wonderfully.
At one point in my journey with The Lord in this, The Lord showed me that to offer myself freely to anyone that would take me, was actually a form of prostitution and that I didn't realise the value of what I had and that if others didn't realise the value within me, then they were not worthy of what I had to give them, but I first had to repent for not valuing myself enough that I would 'throw' myself to just anyone.

And so I believe The Lord wants to heal people of sickness but a lot of that sickness will leave as you begin to learn and understand who you are in Christ, fully loved, fully wanted, fully amazing with gifts and talents that the people He has for you, will want and need, and that you will not need to 'prostitute' yourself in order to receive it or release it.    But at the same time we need to take responsibility for our actions or perhaps our sickness from which we may be suffering from, in why we feel not accepted, why we are sick, as there may be a cause that we can do something about.  Which may mean facing some truths and beginning to trust the word of God when he says that you are beautifully and wonderfully made. That you do have people around you who love you and see the gifts and talents that are there, but perhaps it is you who don't value what you have and therefore repent to The Lord for not loving how he made you, with gifts and talents that he wants you to use to the glory of His name.

In this vision a bunch of people,  had come to visit this one who was sick, but it was like they didn't matter when the house was given.  There are people around you offering you love and acceptance and wanting what you have, but you are wanting perhaps acceptance somewhere else or in some other way than what is being offered, as I was, but The Lord would say to you that He has put people in front of you who value you and the gifts and talents you have and to honour those who He has put in front of you.

God so loves each one of us and has so much for each one of us and often it is right in front of us, but we keep looking elsewhere and are not satisfied with what we have already been given.  Thank you Jesus for the people you have put in front of us to help us and who love us and have the best for us.  Help us to appreciate them and to honour them and to love ourselves and honour ourselves and to see ourselves as you see us and to love how you created us to be, which is different and unique from others, but equally loved and valued by you,  but that others need what I have to give them as much as I need what they have to give me.  Thank you Lord for what you are teaching us all through this.

Death, deception, familiarity and acceptance.

We live our lives and think nothing is wrong.  We cover our eyes and don't see what is happening all around us.  We don't pick up our hands to help because we are so busy in our own worlds, in our own desires, that we don't notice what is happening right around us.

Last night I had several dreams;

  • One of a girl hanging herself in the toilet while her parents were busying studying.
  • One of a young man selling real estate but deceiving the people in order to make the sale.
  • One of visiting some people who were dating and living together and there were some panthers roaming around their house and they were all good with it and they didn't damage the plants. (for me this spoke of familiar spirit and in fact there are so many living together that is a state of familiar spirit and acceptance that it is alright, but it is not)
  • One of being captured by the enemy and put in front of a firing line but ending naked and making love all together as a last request, but the state of acceptance in their hearts of what was going to happen after they made love, instead of believing for a miracle to save them.

All dreams about death, deception, familiarity, and acceptance.

These dreams put things in perspective for me and reminded me or what is important.
We can be so busy in our worlds living our lives, taking our time up with things that seem important but in reality are not.
People are important.  There are people dying all around us of real issues that need our help which may mean we need to step in where others perhaps don't see what is going on to those closest to them, as is often the case.
Of deception and familiarity - thinking the lives they are living are all good, yet there is the devil roaming around and they are quite used to it, yet it will lead them down a path that leads to death.
Of a state of acceptance and apathy - this is my lot so I will just accept it instead of believing that we can have a life of abundance in The Lord which he died for, so that we could live and not just survive day to day and yet we don't do anything for that life we could have that was given for us not appreciating the gift that was given in Jesus.  Of being in a place of acceptance in their sin, instead of seeing hope and faith released that would bring life and a fight for life and truth.

This reminded me of the poem I wrote a while back where I heard the words audibly
"Help me Pretty lady, Help me".

So what does that mean for me?  What does that mean for you?  Are there some shifts in our thinking that needs to happen in order to help people, in order for us to take our eyes off us and onto others?  In our hearts to not accept the status quo and see what we see all around us and step up and speak truth that would bring hope and a future to people, instead of the acceptance of death?

Open our eyes Lord, open our ears Lord, open our hearts Lord, that we may see, that we may hear, that we may do something about what you show us and not be afraid to stand up in the midst of death and destruction, of deception and apathy, that we may stand up and help those around us when you show us something that is not right and is not of you, that would lead people down a path that leads to death.  Give us the ability to stand in the gap for those that need it and perhaps speak truth into peoples lives that will set them free from deception.  Where there is a familiar spirit roaming around our houses that just accepts what is not right in you Lord, help us to be set free from it, so that we may see and hear the truth and do something about it.
Oh Lord that we would not just accept that people are dying all around us, and perhaps even ouselves, in many ways, whether physically or spiritually, and that we would not sit back and do nothing about it.  Help us Lord to be your hands and feet in the place that you have put us and bring hope to the hurting, bring truth to the lies we and others have believed, bring faith and a future to people who need it.
Thank you Lord, we love you and help us love the people around us the way you loved us and gave your life for us so that we could live, help us give our lives for others so that they too would live and not die.

Don't run - "You are the God sees me."

Recently we have been being challenged as to what it is to be 'family' and that when things arise, when confrontation happens, when offences come, in what ever way, we are so used to 'running' from the issues and not dealing with it.  This sort of thinking comes from an 'orphan' mentality, one in which we don't know that confrontation can be a good thing as it looks at truths that actually set us and others, free.  That in running away from the issue we don't allow God to heal, to restore, to reconcile, to honour, all sorts of issues are not actually dealt with when we run from confrontation, when we run from offences or hurt and we miss out on what could be if we trusted God to deal with our situations.

We have also talked about submitting ourselves to others and what that may look like.  Recently I had a picture of an adult going around and around in a school yard because he would not honour the authority of the school headmaster and that authority was that of a child and he was an adult.  He would not submit to the authority because the headmaster was actually a child.  Scripture talks about that unless we become like little children, we will not enter the kingdom of heaven.  And God has been talking about what it is to submit to authority, whatever authority that may look like.  And until we learn to do this, we will go around and around the school yard of learning, until we learn to do that because it is actually a matter of pride and humility and until we learn lessons of what it is to humble ourselves to others, we will continue to go around and around the same issues.

After talking about and seeing these sorts of issues coming up around me,  Nick from Pirongia Christian Fellowship sent this which I thought was wonderful and I would like to share it as it brings hope in our situations we may be facing so I hope this encourages you as it did me.

He writes from Genesis 16...

God Sees.....

Genesis 16 NLT
6.  Sarai treated Hagar so heartily that she finally ran away.
7.  The angel of the Lord found Hagar beside a spring of water in the wilderness, along the road to Shur.
8.  The angel said to her, "Hagar, Sarah's servant, where have you come from and where are you going?"
"I'm running away from my mistress, Sarai," she replied.
9.  The angel of the Lord said to her, "Return to your mistress, and submit to her authority.
10. Then he added, "I will give you more descendants than you can count."
11.  And the angel also said, "You are no pregnant and will give birth to a son.  You are to name him Ishmael (which means "God hears"), for the Lord has heard your cry of distress.
12.  This son of yours will be a wild man, as untamed as a wild donkey!  He will raise his fist against everyone, and everyone will be against him.  Yes, he will live in open hostility against all his relatives."
13.  Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her.  She said, "You are the God who sees me."  She also said.  "Have I truly seen the One who sees me?"
14. So that well was named Beer-lahai-roi (which means "well of the Living One who sees me").  It can still be found between Kadesh and Bered.

So often we run because we may feel injustice, or wronged, or hurt.  But in that we need to know that God sees and He is the God of justice, He is our redeemer and He works all things together for good for those who love him and are called according to His purpose.  What I loved in this that was sent through from Nick, was that in going back Hagar was blessed with more descendants than she could count.  We often see only our pain of the moment or our injustice and we take it into our own hands and don't entrust ourselves to the Lord for him to come into our situations, but in honouring the Lord, he gives us promises that will be fulfilled more than we dreamed, thought or imagined.
Be encouraged today that God sees everything and He will honour those who Honour Him and His word.
Check out 1 Peter Chapters 2 and 3 for more on submitting to authorities

Go in and possess the land!

The Lord has been talking to me this morning through the book of Deuteronomy and some gems I would like to share:
Chapter one Deut 1:6 “You have dwelt long enough at this mountain, turn and take your journey.....” (This\these is/are not the full scripture/s but they are what jumped out and spoke to me)

It is time to turn and take our journey. Many times we go around the same mountains but the Lord says, now turn and take your journey. It is a time of stepping out and into a new place with the Lord. Things are changing and shifting and we cannot continue to stay in the same places that we have been travelling as it is a new day and we have to leave the old behind and move into the new the Lord has for us, even though it may be a little scary as it is not familiar, or we don’t know the way forward, but we need to come to a place of trust in the Lord and move into what He has for us and not continue going around and around the same things that we have been going around and around in.

V8 “See I have set the land before you, go in and possess the land.”
God has got new lands for us to explore and often we like where we are because we don’t know what it is like ‘out there’. New lands can be anything from praying for someone for a healing, it may be sharing your faith with a non-believer, it may be new nations, whatever it may be, it may be leadership, it may be loving an enemy, it may be reconciliation in a relationship.
Sometimes we are waiting for the ‘big dream and vision that we are believing for’ and we miss what is right in front of us that will take us to that big dream in the future.

When I was 20 I flew to England with a friend, but I came from the South Island and had never been to the North Island, but as I was flying from Christchurch we had a stop over in Auckland and we flew in at night in the dark and lights of the city were amazing and yet I had never seen them before. Here I was going to England and I thought sitting in the plane seeing the lights, I should have checked out New Zealand first before I took the massive step I was taking in going to England.
Many times we haven’t explored land that is right at our doorstep in favour of the more ‘adventurous
dreams’ and yet often there are amazing things right in our home country still to be explored.
Lets not be a people that don’t even explore in the spiritual those ‘new lands’ that are there for us to possess because we keep looking further afield and aiming for that big dream and vision the Lord has put on our hearts, and yet miss out on what is still to be gained and gleaned in the lands directly in front of us.

V25 -32 “It is a good land which the Lord our God is giving us. Nevertheless you would not go up, but rebelled against the command of the Lord your God and you complained in your tents” V28 “Where can we go up? Our brethren have discouraged our hearts, saying, The people are greater and taller than we, the cities are great and fortified up to heaven... V29 “Then I said to you, ‘Do not be terrified, or afraid of them. The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you...”V32 “Yet for all that, you did not believe the Lord your God”.
For whatever reason, even though the promise of the Lord is one that is good, we still don’t go up
because of fear, because of discouragement from the brethren who are afraid themselves, because of
things that have happened in the past.
Yet if we would only trust in the Lord who is the one who fights our battles for us and goes before us, we would see the deliverance of the Lord and see the new lands that are flowing with milk and honey and all things good because the Lord is good. Many times we come across a hurdle that seems impossible to man to cross and it is, but like David who stood in front of Goliath, I don’t need to be afraid. I may be little, I may not have come across whatever it is in the path before, but when I have stepped out in the past and remember the testimonies of how God provided, or how God made a way through like that of Moses in the Red Sea then it builds my faith and courage to step into the new land that the Lord is giving me to possess.

Right at the moment the Lord is leading me more and more into leadership and yet this is not a land I have been in before, this is not a place I know how to walk and it is easy to become discouraged and to become afraid as you listen to brethren that may perhaps not speak as the Lord would speak, as you listen to voices of the enemy in your mind saying to you, "who are you to think you can do this or that?" As I have never been this way before, but then I am encouraged in the Lord by His word,
by testimonies of people in the past who have struggled with the same or similar issues that build my faith, as I am encouraged by brethren who build faith and see what they see in me, that encourages
me on in the Lord. And yes I am going to get things wrong, but that is where I learn how to walk, like a child learning to walk, you will fall over but get back up again.

And so I would encourage you this morning to go in and posses the land – whatever that land may be, whether it is fear of man, reconciliation and fellowship restored in a relationship, lack of finances, faith to see miracles and healings happen, to see the dead raised, to speak that neighbour about Jesus, to speak to your family about a behaviour that is not good, whatever ‘land’ the Lord is wanting you to step in by faith into and allow Him to come in and fight your battle before you as it has already been won and the provision is there for your situation.

As you step out it enables God to step in and to see His provision in your time of need! For me in the areas of leadership I was really struggling yesterday and then I went to the movies and God encouraged me in the movie through watching another leader leading a few people and how he struggled, but also how he overcome. God will give you what you need in order to step forward, we just need to believe that he will. Be blessed people as you step out in faith in what you believe the Lord is saying. It may be a small thing, it may be a big thing.

I was encouraged the other day by a testimony of someone who was stepping up in faith in the area of giving in finances and they obeyed the Lord even though they couldn’t work out how they would make things happen and then they shared how since then a cheque unexpectedly was going to come in the mail being the blessing and provision of the Lord since obeying. Praise God. So be encouraged to step out by faith and see the deliverance of the Lord in the land He is calling you to possess.
