Encouragement through the trial

Reading Hebrews 11 verse 24 jumped out at me this morning. "By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward."
And as I read this I thought of 2 Cor 4:17 "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all."

Moses had everything at his feet, wealth, popularity, etc, yet he gave it all up and walked the path of God.  Imagine how hard that must have been choosing rather to suffer affliction at the hand of his own family.

I have had several dreams lately of people coming under persecution and being killed for their faith, some walking away from their faith. One this morning was where a group of people were walking this path and all these rocks were falling down around them and it made me think of people being 'stoned' by others, perhaps with their judgements etc.

When trial comes it is easy to fall away, to question, to point the finger, to whatever, but I want to encourage you as it says in Heb 12:1 "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Jesus too like Moses on the cross suffered the shame that was not his, yet He too did it for something greater than himself. Let these stories of faith be encouragement for you as you walk through whatever may be the trial for you, whatever your family may say against you, whatever people may stone you with in their judgements towards you, knowing that others too have walked a similar path and their stories can help us continue to walk ours. Many blessings this Christmas/New Year.

Use what is in your hand - Enter into the joy of the Lord!

Just reading through the Parable of the Talents (Matt 25:14) and what struck me was as they gave away what they had, the word was "Enter into the joy of your Lord" V21 & 22 As we give away and use for His glory what He has already firstly given us, a) He will make you ruler over many things, and b) You will enter into the joy of the Lord.

Last Sunday night in church one lady came up to me and had gold dust in her hands, she was so excited but I held out my hands and said to her to put them in my hands, not because I wanted it, but to demonstrate this very principal, that if she gave it away she would get more. She was a little hesitant as she wanted to keep it and was afraid but as she stepped out in faith and put it in my hands, not only did I receive some, but she then immediately got more in her hands! Principal put to the test that straight away proved true.

If we use and give away what is in our hands we will receive more. V16 of the Parable of the Talents says "Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five." Not only was there repayment but then he is put in charge of many things because he has been faithful for what he was given.

Ponderings today 16 Dec

Whilst we may not agree with everything that is preached from the pulpit, there is always something that we can learn either about the Lord or about ourselves and our responses to it. Lets not be a people to whom are easily offended and move on without learning what it is that the Lord would have us learn in the different situations.

I read a wonderful scripture this morning that really encouraged me as one who often feels arrows in the back in the spirit from peoples judgements towards me, which God really spoke to me about and hope that it would encourage you too if you feel this way. As it is not us who receive the arrows from people but the Lord (v4)
But also reminds me not to be a person that speaks about others behind their back as words are powerful and the tongue either brings life or death. And it is so easily done without often thinking about it. And as easily as I feel arrows, others would feel arrows from me.
Lord forgive us our sin as we forgive others theirs.
God's wonderful grace forgives me and reminds me of my own judgements towards others taking away any rights of justification/restitution for my hurt.

Psalm 64
Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation;
Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked,
From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity,
Who sharpen their tongue like a sword,
And bend their bows to shoot their arrows - bitter words,
That they may shoot in secret at the blameless;
Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.

They encourage themselves in an evil matter;
They talk of laying snares secretly;
they say, "Who will see them?"
They devise iniquities;
We have perfect a shrewd scheme.
Both the inward though and the heart of man are deep.

But God shall shoot at them with an arrow;
Suddenly they shall be wounded.
So He will make them stumble over their own tongue;
All who see them shall flee away.
All men shall fear,
And shall declare the work of God;
For they shall wisely consider His doing.

The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and trust in Him.
And all the upright in heart shall glory."

And Matt 5:11 "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Lets be a people that recognise our own judgements towards people and turn from them and do away with the pointing of finger and malicious talk (Isaiah 58) then v10&11 "Then your light shall dawn in the darkness and your darkness shall be as the noonday. The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought. and strengthen your bones. You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail....

Wise men come bearing gifts for Jesus.

Thought this morning - "the three wise men came bearing gifts for Jesus", expensive gifts. Thought .... they were wise men   What is it to be wise.... The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom according to Proverbs. The expensive gifts they brought were because they recognised a King and you never enter a Kings presence without an offering and yet today we become so 'familiar' with our King that we don't even give Him the honour He is due and we can easily take for granted what He has given us. The reason why we have offerings in church???? perhaps a continual reminder for us who our Lord and Saviour is and the honour He is due??
Prov 3:9 "Honour the Lord with your possessions, And with the first fruits of all your increase, So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine."

If you enter a Kings presence with the best you have to give, will not that King give you favour and honour because you have given Him what He is due? Not that we bring our best in order to get, but because we recognise what Jesus has done for us in giving His life for us, He gave His best and so in return we want to give Him our best...... Just a thought

Is there a mess at your place?

I just want to encourage those of you who are feeling like there is too much stuff going on that you can't see a way through, that you will get there and that it will be worth it in the end!

Jim and I have this last weekend had someone move into our back part of our house. In the process we needed to move out of there and shift all the stuff up into the front part. In the process I started on cleaning up loads of other cupboards that needed cleaning up. A 'decluttering' started to happen but as the 'spring cleaning' some would call it, started to happen, actually it became a huge overall and a mass throwout, there became mess everywhere. And in fact we are still in it. And I feel like there are some out there who feel like this, that their lives are just a mess.

But like any spring cleaning, it always looks worse before it gets better - well in our house anyway. It is a work in progress and I know we will come through it. But in the process things have to get shifted, cleaned out, rubbish thrown out, stuff we haven’t used thrown out. Sometimes its messier initially when you start spring cleaning and it may last for a few days, or weeks but eventually you get onto dealing with some of the stuff you found that had been hidden away and you decide what you will do with it. Some of the stuff you find, you wondered where it had got to and are thrilled you found it. Eventually you will find yourself functioning better, not being stressed because stuff has been finally dealt with, and then you can see the way through things way more clearly.

I believe there is a ‘decluttering’ going on in the spirit as well. God is dealing with some of the rubbish that you have been carrying that you no longer need that once dealt with will free you up completely and allow you to function in a better capacity and the way you were meant to. A time of getting rid of stuff you no longer need like wrong theologies, wrong thinking, excess luggage that weighs you down and takes up space, but in the process it may feel messy, unsorted, like you are not ever going to get through this, but be encouraged - you will! And you will come out lighter, freer, seeing more clearly, hearing more clearly and with a joy and lightness that only God can bring when an overhaul is done. Allow the process to happen knowing that God has His best for you in mind.

Do you feel stuck with no way out of your current situation?

Last night I had this dream and in this dream I went into an open home to have a look at a house but while I was there I saw all these people that were part of this building complex that had been 'taken in' by the goodness of how the building complex sounded and had spent their life savings and bought in this complex.  I saw some people that I knew previously from another place where the Spirit of the Lord had touched them powerfully, but now they had invested everything they had into this building complex and couldn't get out of it but when they saw me, how pleased they were to see me.  As I looked around their hearts were stuck as there was no way out for them, a hopelessness as they realised what they had done and the truth in which they now saw.  And as I looked over the walls into the building complex I saw like a chinese school like building but it was a stadium, all very uniform, the discipline hard, the worship of one man who was a statue on their desk, it was like that had become a part of a chinese army.  I don't believe China as a country has anything to do with this, it was more that there was the one world government thinking taking over, the rule of oppression and control, the fear, the hopelessness of not being able to get out of it.

If you feel like this is you, stuck, with no way out, a place where you have invested everything in it only to find the truth and you don't know how to change this situation you now find yourself in, then I have something to share with you.

In Gal 5:1 it says "It is for freedom Christ has set you free".
Freedom is not a place, it is not the situation you are in, but it is the attitude of the heart.  You can be in a prison and still be free.  You can be in a wheelchair bound unable to move and yet still be free.  You can be in the worst marriage relationship of abuse and yet still be free.  Whatever situation you may find yourself in and feeling you cannot get out of it, then I want to share about the hope we have in Christ.
You may be one who has started well in Christ but for various reasons now find yourself bound and wonder what happened that you ended up like this, and yet still be able to come into freedom and joy again.
No matter what situation you are in, God is able to turn it for good - if you let him lead you through the valley of the shadow of death and hopelessness, if you let him be the light that guides your feet, if you open the door of your heart and let him come in and bring hope and healing to you.

He says "I stand at the door and knock, anyone who hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and He with me".

When we realise where we are at, the situations we find ourselves in, all we need to do is ask the Lord Jesus Christ to come into our lives and to bring the change, to bring the hope, to bring the healing, to bring the freedom.  He says, "Whoever asks, will find".

Because of God's great love for us he sent his son Jesus who died for all of ours sins, all our mistakes, all our hopeless places so that we could have life and have it in abundance.  Jesus took all our pain, all our shame, all our hurt and took it to the cross and buried it along with him at the cross so that we wouldn't have to.  He paid the price for all our mistakes, and failures, all our fears, all our worries.

When we come to him and ask him to come into our lives, and perhaps areas of our lives where we need His help, he will come.  It may not look how we think it will look, but he will answer your prayer.
He wipes the slate clean and holds nothing against us.  There is nothing we need to do in order for that repentance to be 'cleansed' from our life, Jesus paid the price for your mistake so that we don't have to continually pay for ours.  When we believe, we are forgiven, we are set free, there is no account still to be charged on our behalf because it has been paid for.  Today is a new day, the old has past, the new has come.  He will bring hope to the hopeless, joy to the sorrowful, he will bring peace to the restless.  This is who Jesus is and why he came,  so that we could have life and have it to the full!  Like any good father who wants the best for His children, is God  and what he want for us because he loves us so much and doesn't want to see us continue on in areas where we feel bound and hopeless.

We just need to trust that he will work through what he said he will do as we surrender our issues, as we surrender our hurts, allow the walls of our hearts to be broken down, our fears, our lack of trust in areas.  But He will always do what He said He would do, so just believe today that God can change your circumstance around, that he can take you out of that seemingly hopeless situation, that there is a way through where there seems no way.  Just ask Him into your life, into your heart, into your situation and He will come and you will see shifts happen, you will see lives changed, you will see hope return and joy and peace come back into your life even though you may still be in the same outward situation, he will change your heart and bring freedom and hope into it.

If this has effected you in any way and you want help or prayer please feel free to call me on +64 7 8389009 or find a friend who you trust to share your need with.  When we hold it to ourselves it often becomes bigger than it really is but when we share our problems, our needs, then we can receive help.  There is no shame in asking for help, we all need it :)

Don't worry, you wont miss the bus.

Last night I had this dream and there were a bunch of people at my house and we all decided to go somewhere by bus.  Because we had to lock up the house, Jim and I missed the bus, while the others managed to make it.  I found myself getting a little frustrated with Jim as he seemed to be so slow in locking everything up.  Jim & I got there just in time to see their bus drive away.  We were left standing in the rain.  But then the thinking came, its alright, we will just catch the next bus.

Some of us may feel at times like we have missed our opportunity.  That we have missed what The Lord would have us do, and in that we can get a little frustrated by people around us and even perhaps blame people for where things are at, at least I know I do at times. :)  But I believe The Lord wants to encourage people today, including myself, that you don't need to worry, just rest and be at peace and  you will soon get another opportunity.  Like waiting for a bus at a bus stop, they come around every 15-20 mins so don't be concerned.

In this dream I was reminded of a time where where we were in China and Jim & I really believed that The Lord had called us to go and live in another area.  We were totally convinced that The Lord had spoken and even the peoples words aligned with what we had been given by the Lord.   And so when we were told by the group of people we were with that we were not allowed to go there at that time, it was a real struggle to release and surrender it.  When we released and surrendered it, submitted to the authority over us,  and realised that God is the one who opens and closes doors and not man, and if it was his purpose for us to be there, then he would get us there.  We became totally at peace as to where The Lord had us and actually enjoyed it so much that the team of people we were with thought we no longer wanted to go.  But that was only because God's peace in the surrender had come, but it was still very much on our hearts to go and within 6 months or so we then were given the opportunity to move into that area.

We may feel we have missed at times what The Lord wants us to do but be encouraged, in the surrender and peace of handing it over to him, he will provide another opportunity that may actually be better than you first thought, dreamed or imagined.  :)  The Lords plans and purposes for your life will be fulfilled.

Do you feel like you are under fire at the moment?

For the past several weeks there seems to be some real challenges and trials going on in peoples lives including our own.  But I want to encourage you that it is all for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose (Rom 8).

Last night I was asking the Lord about some things that were going on with us and with those around us, and why it was happening.  During the night, Luke 4 came to my heart.  So this morning I looked it up and it is the story of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness by the devil.  And as I read it I thought too of the scripture in 1 Peter 4:12 "Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering as though something strange were happening to you.  But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ so that you may overjoyed when his glory is revealed."

Just like Jesus, our hearts are tested.  Prov 17:3 "The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart."  and James 1:12 "Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him."
The testing needs to happen so that we know what is actually in our heart and what we truly believe.  Sometimes the things that come out and are shown are areas that may need some renewing of the mind, and other times they are things that show us actually our heart and motives are pure.  So the testing of our faith is all for the good and the promises that come with that testing is the crown of life, is His glory and joy.

In the Luke 4 story where Jesus is tempted by the devil after the temptation he comes away walking in power and authority as it says in Luke 4:14 "Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside."  v 32 "They were amazed at his teaching, because his message had authority." v36 "All the people were amazed and said to each other, "What is this teaching? With authority and power he gives orders to evil spirits and they come out!"  And the news about him spread throughout the surrounding area."

I know for myself I want to be walking in this way, walking with power and authority, so that news about Jesus spreads throughout all of New Zealand, through all of the world and in order for this to happen I need to undergo some testing of my heart, some refining of the fire, so that I am a weapon fit for its work (Isaiah 54), so that I am a vessel useful for every good work (2 Tim 2:20-21).

Recently I was given a picture by two people, the same picture, and it was of grapes being pressed but in the pressing the oil was coming forth.  I know that this is happening, that the pressing is happening but I am also believing that the oil of the anointing that sets the captives free will come forth even more, to see cancer flee, to see the lame walk, to see the blind see and so I  encourage you allow whatever pressing may be happening in your life and believe that through it all the oil of the anointing will come forth, that like Jesus, the power and authority will come forth, and Jesus will be glorified on the earth and we will be overjoyed when His glory is revealed.

What do Kingdom finances look like?

I was asked by someone the other day what Kingdom finances looked like and I realised that this is an area that needs some discussion.

This is my opinion of what Kingdom finances look like according to what the Lord has taught me over the years and to scriptures I have been shown, but I am not the be all and end all to thinking, so it is something you might want to check out for yourselves.

The way of the world is to store up riches, to save for a rainy day, to have enough to protect themselves should something happen, that I have earned this and it is mine and therefore I can do what I want with it.

The way of the Kingdom is a way of giving to the poor, giving to God's people in need and practising hospitality, of not worrying about tomorrow, of trusting God for the future and his provision in that time of need when it arises, of everything is His (God's).

I believe that if you see a need in front of you and you have something in which can help with that need, whatever it is, if it is in your hand to help, then you help simply out of obedience to the word of God and what you believe God is saying to you, you give, trusting that God will provide for your need, when and if the time arises.  Many a time The Lord has spoken to us to give to a situation and it may have been the last finances we have had, or finances we have just received and we have known of needs ahead, but we have given anyway that day trusting that God will provide for that time.  It is also not our job to judge whether or not someone is 'worthy' of what we give them, that is between them and God.  God sees what you do and is pleased with that.  It is not dependant on whether or not you think that they deserve your help.  And when you give, give not expecting in return and not to put demands on people to whom you have given freely as The Lord is the judge of everything and not us.  We are to give account of our own actions to The Lord, not other peoples.

We are called to be stewards of everything The Lord has given us, caretakers, nothing belongs to us, everything we have belongs to God.  But the worlds thinking is 'this is my house, this is my car, this is my job', but in actual fact everything we have and are comes from God and everything belongs to him and we are to be caretakers of that.  I have seen enough in my time when I have given from one hand what was seemingly the last, within a few days more has come in to cover whatever need that I have.

I know this would provoke alot of discussion or thought and questions in lots of areas with different examples and I know over the years as God has brought various needs to us and especially in China where there are a lot of beggars and many many people with loads of needs, as we have brought various needs to the body for help and seen that help given to us, I realise that in all situations it has been a matter of what is actually going on in my heart.  Will I be obedient to what I believe God is saying, or the hold things have had on my heart that I want to keep a hold of?  Or I decide whether they are being honest in their need or deserve my help which says that I am judging them? Or the thinking that this is mine, or that I am not trusting and looking to The Lord for my future.  All issues and questions of my own heart and that is really what The Lord is wanting us to see - what are the holds in our hearts that we can't let go of?  The Lord owns everything, it is all His.

Imagine what it would look like should a body of believers get a hold of Kingdom finances where we are holding onto nothing as our own, but that we are just vessels for things to go through to others as things come to us at the same time.

Person wanted

I am needing a personal assistant to help me one day a week who believes in the vision for revival in this nation and in me and the call of God on our lives and is willing to sew into it with their time and finances as it would involve travel out to our place and it would be unpaid at this stage. If this sounds like you then give us a call, I would love to hear from you, phone 8389009, or 02102651601

Do you feel like you are being tossed around in the wind?

I believe there are some out there who feel like they are being tossed about from one thing to the other, not sure where they are heading or what they are believing for and this is a time when you just want to give up and walk away from the promises God has put inside of you.  I want to encourage you to keep going and as it says in James 1:2  " Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."  I know that sometimes you don't consider it all joy when you go through trials but believe me, it develops things in you that you will be grateful for if you don't give up and you will see fruit in your life and those around you should you learn to walk in patience and perseverance.   These are times you don't want to be a lone sheep but instead get yourself around people of faith who will build you up and speak into your life the truth of who you are and what you are called to. People who will speak life.  May the Lord encourage you at this time and give you clear direction and purpose.   Many blessings!

Do you want to walk in signs, wonders and miracles?

People say to me that they want to walk in signs wonders and miracles and yet..... the cost it takes to do that they are sometimes not willing to pay - yet  Because the reward far outweighs any cost that might come. And I pray that people get a revelation from God of the joy set before them through Jesus! The cost of perhaps walking away from friends that don't believe what you believe or want, the cost perhaps of family who reject you because you are radical and taking your faith too far - in their eyes at least, the cost perhaps of leaving houses, fields etc, the cost perhaps of going to a friend and apologising for your behaviour, as you obey what it is the Lord puts on your heart to do and you may need to surrender these. Yes salvation is free through Jesus, but to walk in the anointing of God where you see captives set free around you, where you see the sick healed, where you see lives changed before your eyes, costs you to believe in what Jesus has done and can do, through one life that is willingly surrendered to Him, no matter what the cost. One life has changed the world - Jesus. What can he do with You as you surrender to his call - Just believe

Continuing on in Luke - Chapter 22:40 "Pray that you will not fall into temptation"

A couple of things that struck me this morning from Luke.
Jesus says to his disciples in 22:40 "Pray that you will not fall into temptation",  and then a few verses later while praying on the Mount of Olives Jesus, 'prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground'. (22:44) His prayer was obviously quite intense and I thought how much of my prayer is so intense that my praying produces sweat?  But the prayer he said to the disciples was 'pray that you will not fall into temptation'.  And then again in verses 46"Why are you sleeping?"  he asked them.  "Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation."
This call to pray that we don't fall into temptation I believe is so needed.  It is when we pray that we realise the different areas that we have fallen into temptation in such seemingly little things, but over time they become big things.  We succumb to temptation in so many ways and something that the Lord showed me in the next verses was the story of Judas who betrayed Jesus with a kiss for money.  Judas was his friend, had received so much from Jesus and yet come the time, he was the one who betrayed Jesus.  And shortly after as Jesus is put on the cross, Peter who once again had received so much from Jesus, followed him, and a few verses later ends up betraying Jesus and succumbing to temptation of fear of man.

How quickly we think we are doing alright and that we would never fall, and yet those who were closest to Jesus, fell to temptation, betrayed and disowned him, come the time of persecution and challenge.  For myself as I prayed this morning, I realised that I too had fallen to some areas of temptation. Where I had been hurt by people closest to me and had put a wall to guard my heart again and yet as by Jesus example, he forgave those closest to him and he asked the Father to forgive them.  It was very much like Judas how easily we can give someone a kiss as such, on the outside and yet our hearts are in a whole another place.  But in the praying the Lord shows us those areas that need his touch, those areas that need healing that only He can do, so that our hearts line up with our actions.

Lord I pray that we would not fall into temptation and I pray that those areas in our lives where we have succumbed in whatever way, you would show us and restore us.  For those people who perhaps have been hurt or betrayed by the people closest to them, Lord bring your healing, forgiveness and restoration.  Thank you Jesus that you too suffered at the hands of your friends and those who you had poured your life out to and for, and yet you show us a way to forgive through your example.  Thank you Lord for the joy set before us as we forgive.

Things to ponder from the book of Luke

Some powerful stuff out of the book of Luke this morning that spoke to me  17:10 "So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty'"  This really spoke to me how we expect and want the praise from man for what we do and yet we have only done what we were asked to do when we freely gave ourselves as bondslaves/servants to christ so why should we expect praise from man or from God?

The other thing - actually there was heaps this morning out of Luke so take a look, but 18:8 "However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"  The one question about will Jesus find people of faith who believe in what they have not yet seen?  It is only faith that pleases God and so to be a people of faith.... A challenge.

One more thing that I have to share is Luke19:11-27 the parable of the Ten Minas and about being faithful with what you have, but v24 "Then he said to those standing by, 'Take his mina away from him and give it to the one who has ten minas." "Sir,' They said, 'he already has ten?" "He replied, 'I tell you that to everyone who has more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away."  This really spoke to me about the jealousies that arise when we see people with seemingly already so much and yet God gives them more and we judge them instead of perhaps seeing that they have been faithful with the little that had been given and so God gives them more, but takes it from those who have not been faithful with what they have been given.  Powerful stuff to ponder for me this morning.

Is the reality of your heart different to what people see?

I had this dream and in this dream I went to stay with some people but they had no room in the house for me so I stayed in my caravan.
But as I went into their house, the kitchen was a disaster, it was full of rotting food so much so that there were maggots growing and moving, there was stuff everywhere.  The people in the house were off helping a handicapped person which was good, but the state of their kitchen was a disaster.  So even though I didn’t know where to begin in cleaning up I started to clean up as they needed a hand and as I started to clean up the people in the house came and helped and switched on the waste disposal unit and the kitchen began to take shape again.

I believe this is a word for some of you.   Although you are helping others and doing good things, in the process, your own house, your own heart, is in a mess and you need others to come and help you get started.  The kitchen in dream language often means the heart and as you know in your own homes it is often the place where the whole house functions from.
The food often represents the word of God and I believe that you have had the word of God, but in the process of helping people have forgotten it and not used it in your own life and so it has rotted and is now just wasted and full of maggots.  And unless food, or the word, gets used, it is good for nothing except to be thrown out and destroyed, that is what we were doing putting it down the waste disposal unit.  Cleaning up the mess that had been created because people didn’t use the word in their own lives.

Sometimes the whole process of cleaning up seems too big and you don’t know where to start and I know for my own life and struggles I have had and especially my daughters bedroom :)  sometimes it is easier to walk away than deal with it.  The pray and walk away type thing, but actually not do anything.  But I want to encourage you that once you actually start on it, step out in faith and try to deal with it, then others will come and help you.  That is the place that the Lord can come and help, as you recognize your need for help, as you recognize that your house, your heart, is in a mess and needs a clean up.

When Jim and I were dating, he had showed me his home and it was spotless as he had made it that way in order to show me.  But the day we got engaged, he embarrassingly took me to his house and said "you need to see this".  And as we opened the door to the house,  the kitchen was a disaster, there was food on the floor, the cat was eating off it, it was disgusting.  But in that moment I knew where I fitted as prior to that it seemed he didn’t need me as he was so capable.  But when I saw the reality and not the fa├žade, I found my place in our marriage as being a help mate to him.   When we are real with people it opens the way and allows people into our lives, into the truth and in that place people feel wanted and needed.   But not only that, those people can help us in our time of need.  I didn’t judge the state of the kitchen; I just loved his honesty and willingness to show me the truth.  You may be surprised that when you open up with the truth of your situation, that you will find love and acceptance and the help you need to change what may be needed.

"Put out into the deep water, and let down the nets for a catch"

We have been given a picture recently a couple of times and then again it came on Wednesday night another confirmation of basket loads of fish, a catch so huge.  This same Wednesday I had also read the scripture from Luke 5: 4-11 "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch".  Simon answered "Master we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything.  But because you say so, I will let down the nets."  When they had done so, they caught such a large humber of fish that their nets began to break.  So they signalled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.

I believe there is a fresh call to put out your net, not only for Jim and I and for the ministry the Lord has given us, but also for each one of you.  You may have been fishing for a long time and felt like you had caught nothing, you may have been working hard day and night and feel tired and ready to give up, but there is a call going out today to put down the net again and you will see a catch you have not ever seen.  And encouragement to step out again not in our own strength this time but because the Lord has said so, and because he has said so, he will do it.

My question as I ponder this in my heart is, "okay Lord I believe this is what you are saying and so how am I to do that?  How am I to put out my net?"  And so I ask of the Lord and I ask you too, if you pray for this ministry to pray with us in this, but also to ask the question to the Lord in your own life, how you are to put the net out in your own life.   It may be as you always have done before but with a fresh expectancy and excitement of more coming into the net and that being the case, be prepared for the more that God wants to bring the best you can.

The past year God has been saying to us to be prepared for expansion and so we had first moved out from meeting in our lounge into our double garage as things grew and then to Puketaha Hall in preparation of the more.  Even though we didn't see the growth and in fact we saw less, we also knew in faith we were doing what we believed the Lord was saying and that was preparing for expansion even if we didn't see it yet.  So what is it that God would be saying to you in preparation for all those fish that are going to come into your net?  And to be expectant that the fish will come, you just have to be obedient and put down your net in whatever way that may look for you.

Also when you put out into the deep, it is often a place of the unknown, it can be a scary place seemingly unsafe place but that is the place that God meets you, it is the place of the miraculous where only God can do what he wants to do, when we are not holding onto anything and are dependant and reliant on Him to do what He said He will do :)

Respect the culture of the house you enter.

When we were working in China, we learnt that we had to respect the culture of the house we entered otherwise we offended people. For example, if we entered a Tibetans home, we did not take off our shoes or the souls of our feet never pointed to people out of respect of the people as it would cause offence. But in a Chinese or a Koreans home, we took off our shoes at the door. It took some adjusting but after time we got used to the different ways, and although initially we couldn't understand why this was so and often criticised the other culture from doing things different than our home, over the time we learnt why and understood the differences and learnt to appreciate them and love the people.

This morning The Lord is showing me and I believe this is a word for the family of Christ, that when we willingly choose to enter another church then we need to respect the culture that is in that house and honour it. Although it may be different from my own, it is not my place to criticise or judge it and over time will learn why the culture is the way it is. He also showed me that those who enter our house, our church, also too come willingly and freely and in so doing have given the head of the house permission to speak into their lives. What they do with that is their free choice but in entering the house, then they have chosen to come under that authority in that house as I did in entering a Chinese or a Tibetan's home, as I do when I enter another church. That you respect the head of that house and in so doing, honour what they bring even if you don't agree with it. It is up to you what you do with that.

Like China, there are more than 56 recognised people groups yet all one country, all express themselves differently and uniquely. It does not make them invalid and not a part of China because they are a minority people group, but still are considered Chinese. So too in the body of Christ, many different unique expressions of people groups, yet all still Christian and believers and lovers of God. Lets honour the different houses, churches of Christ, and although different, lets not criticise and judge the other and in so doing consider ourselves better than the other.

Do not fear - it will have the DNA of Jesus

Over the last two weeks I have noticed a shift and an expansion in the spirit of things about to be released, like the final stages of a lady pregnant about to give birth, when what has been inside, can no longer be contained and it has to come out.

And in the process of this 'baby' needing to come out there has been this question, this fear, and even this 'holding in the baby' because of the uncertainty of what it will look like, that there will no longer be control and in that there is a fear of releasing it and letting it go.

I share this because I believe there are many who are 'pregnant' with dreams, visions, hopes, plans, but because of the uncertainty of what it looks like there is a holding off, a waiting, a hesitation, possibly because in the past things have not turned out as expected, possibly because of hurts and fears of rejection, of what people will think etc.  for whatever reason.  But I want to encourage you today and something The Lord has been speaking to me about, is not to fear as it will have the DNA of Jesus.

If Jesus is in me, and Jesus has put these dreams, visions, plans on my heart, then I do not need to be afraid or uncertain of what it will look like, even though it might look different that I thought or expected because I can trust that it will have the DNA of Jesus.  As God is the Father of the 'baby' that is inside of you and me and in Him, I can trust.  If God is the Father of the 'baby' then it will have His genes, His personality, His traits and we can trust in that, however it looks, it will look like Jesus.

For me the 'baby' is Revival for this Nation, and what I have seen a little of already, I have been a little afraid of how it might look, of how people might reject it because it is not what they expected - or me for that matter, and so there has been a hesitation in the release of the fullness of it but The Lord has really been encouraging me and leading me to trust him that it will have His DNA.  And for many of you revival is something you are wanting and crying out for in your churches, in your life and yet there is a hesitation because of the uncertainty of what it might look like, that you can no longer control it.  But I want to encourage you that it will have the DNA of Jesus.  That does not mean it will have the DNA of 'church', as we know it now, but of the fruit of the spirit, of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  Against such things there is no law. (Gal 6:22-23)

It may look a little out of order, a little out of what we see as control, but rather the Holy Spirit being in control.  It may look like nothing we have seen before, it may look like people being offended because as Jesus walked he offended people with the truth, but in actual fact God is bringing to the light things hidden in the darkness and revealing them so they can turn and be healed and brought into 'true freedom'.  It may look 'messy' as people learn to come into a freedom they don't know how to handle as they are so used to 'boundaries' and working within those boundaries and now a freedom that they have not experienced before and having to 'grow up' in God for themselves and not in others, so there will be those finding their way without walls and so there will be mistakes, and growth and people in all different places but within all of this those fruits of the spirit should and will be seen.   There will be manifestations and strange ones at that, but once again we are called not to judge the manifestation but rather the fruit that comes from it and when manifestations happen it is easy to tell what is of The Lord and what is not, as the opposite comes, anger, judgement, criticism, pointing of finger - all not the fruit of the spirit.

So I want to encourage you and myself in The Lord as he has been speaking to me not to fear when Revival finally breaks out because it will have His DNA, no matter how it looks, what shape it takes, it will have the Fathers DNA.

Individuality verses family, pride verses serving.

This morning I had this dream and I want to share some parts of it as I feel it is important to address some of these issues that I saw happening in this dream.

One part I saw a young man come into our home with his food, but someone was already preparing food for the family but this young man came in and brought his own food and cooked for himself.  And to me someone else was already cooking, but he just took over, and he was treating it like a flatting situation instead of a family situation where we all ate together around the table and had fellowship together.  As I went to talk to this young one who came in, he wouldn't listen that we wanted what he brought, but he just stormed out and wouldn't even listen or talk, taking friends with him.

This I believe is quite significant at the moment as many of us come into the house and family of God but once in, see ourselves as individuals and do what we want instead of contributing to the whole and being a part of the whole family.  And when someone may challenge us with it, we won't even listen to what they have to say, but leave with offence taking others with us.

We are called as Christians to be a body, to work together, to be a family who help each other, who care for others needs above our own, who serve one another.  But in this dream it was all about the individual doing what they wanted.  This too is true across the denominations, as we are all still one body, one family, we are not individuals.  Many come into the body of Christ but still consider it is all about them and what they can get out of it rather than how they can be a part of a body that has something to contribute and bring to help the body be a family that functions well together.

The other part of the dream, I was taking a teaching on something and this person had freely given $100 but during the teaching, they didn't want to do what was asked and started complaining that it wasn't value for money and wouldn't submit to what was being asked of them and once again walked out.

I find this really interesting because we will freely give money and think we are freely giving it but when we don't get something in return for our money, we complain.   And I think of the scripture that talks about giving freely not expecting anything in return.

The other part of it was we wont do what people suggest we should do and in not doing it we do not honour the person bringing it and we do not reap what we could have reaped had we honoured what they suggested we do.  But instead we get offended because someone is asking us to do something we don't want to do or are not willing to do.   And in this I think of the Karate Kid movie and how he wanted to learn Karate but his teacher first started him doing what seemed like meaningless housekeeping jobs, but in the end it all came together and proved invaluable.  During the course of the movie he nearly walked out as he only saw it one way and that was he was doing this mans cleaning, but actually the teacher through those jobs of housecleaning were valuable lessons that was being taught.   Often we complain about doing something but in the end they bring us some very valuable lessons if we don't get upset and walk out.

Guest Ministry - Linda Hartzell from America

We are blessed to have join us on Wednesday the 25th at Puketaha Hall this amazing powerful woman of the Lord - Linda Hartzell - She travels internationally as a missionary / evangelist and conference speaker.  She has ministered in over 45 nations of the world and has been in ministry for 30 years.

I was honoured to be able hear her speak this last Sunday at Life Church and highly recommend her and the power she speaks confirming the season as to which we are in:  Come along - All welcome. 7pm

A little about her:

"At the young age of 22 Linda's ministry was launched in the "heat" of the great Argentina Revival.  She has experienced and seen first hand the incredible impact that the power of God can have upon an entire nation, when God's eyes look upon that nation for revival.
Linda's message is prophetic in nature with insight and understanding of the times and a directional message of where God is taking us as a Church.  Emphasizing the fundamental elements for effectual ministry and revival.
Linda is International Representative of End-Time Handmaidens and Servants International and has worked closely on staff with Dr. Gwen Shaw (founder and president) for 29 years."

Titus 3:9

Yesterday I was at something that was discussing the perceived lack of confidence in the local churches, it was really great, but one thing that stood out for me is as I pondered everything that was discussed was Tit 3:9 "But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about law because these are unprofitable and useless."

We can so get caught up discussing different theological issues but forget the main thing and take our eyes of Jesus. In the book of Nehemiah they started to rebuild the wall and as they started to do the work God had called them to, the enemy tried to take away their focus and drag them away. So often that is the case when a work of God is happening the enemy wants to come and distract us with things that take away our focus.

In the book of Joshua it says "do not turn to the left or to the right", why? Because our focus goes from where it should be. If we keep our eyes on Jesus then all the distractions will not be entered into and we will keep the main thing, the main thing.

Over this past weekend two similar things have tried to come in at me and distract me and drag me into quarrelling, arguments and fighting. I did not succeed very well in my responses, but the Lord has taught me something in this and I have to take captive every thought and word that does not line up with the word of God, so that I don't get dragged away and enticed as so easy it is. So I encourage you to keep your focus on Jesus and avoid foolish controversies etc as it talks of in Titus, it just takes away the joy and truth of all that Jesus has done for us in setting us free.

Help me Pretty Lady, Help me

I woke up this morning to a cry:
"Help me Pretty Lady, Help me".

It wrecked my world, it broke my heart and so I am asking, Lord where did that cry come from but in the meantime I have a poem.

We're making excuses for not arising and shining,
We're making excuses for our churches dying,
While there is a call from the lost that is crying,
Help me Pretty Lady, Help me.

We have the light that brings life,
We have the hope to give,
We have the love that is needed,
Help me Pretty Lady, Help me.

There are sheep without shepherds
There are children crying and dying
The desperate hopeless cry that is calling,
Help me Pretty Lady, Help me.

"The water is rising like never seen before in the Waikato in May"

Yesterday afternoon these words ran before me;

"The water is rising like never seen before in the Waikato in May".

Then after that I had this vision where a fighter plane fell to pieces in front of me and crashed to the ground with parts going everywhere.  I saw the pilot fleeing for his life with two children and hiding underground for protection with other fighter planes that too were hidden.  It was a scary frantic time in the vision and I was having to avoid the damage from the plane and hide so as not to get hurt.

For me, waters represent The Holy Spirit, the presence of God.   'May' can represent increase but it may also mean the time in which we see it happen.  From what I am seeing and believing for, I believe there is going to be an increase of the presence of God like never seen before, which is exciting but it will also bring a  challenge with it, as seen by my vision that followed the words.

And in this time of testing I believe ministries/people may fall, but for those that hide in the shadow of the Almighty and rest and trust in Him and His word, will be alright.  There were two children which can represent witness, testimony, division or separation and I believe we are coming into a time where there will be division but that we as a body of Christ we need to stand together and help each other.  In the vision I saw this pilot fleeing, but I saw that other fighter pilots were helping him to safety.  We cannot afford to leave our brother or sister stranded as they come under attack, but we must come alongside and help them find the way to the place of safety, to the protection of the Lord, to the place of hiding which is found only in Him.  Hidden in the shadow of his wing.  We must not judge or we too will be judged, we must help people come into the Lords protection.  In the time of testing, stuff will rise in us that we did not know was there,  but when it does rise, please, as a body of Christ, believers together, do not judge it, as the Lord is bringing healing to people and setting them free.  Allow for God to do what he needs to, to see people free.  Be patient with each other.  Give grace to each other.

For myself I know that when the "Glory of the Lord" has been released in all its fullness, there have been people who through lack of understanding and knowledge (christian people) who have risen and judged me and thrown words or arrows at me, either in the physical or the spiritual, but the Lord has been my protection, my strong tower, my fortress and I find myself hidden in the shadow of his wing, totally protected by Him as I trust him to be my deliverer.   At the same time it has been an exciting time as I have seen people set free in the Lord in a way I only dreamed about.  So although there have been the people that have tried to attack me, there have been far more people who have been blessed through what God has done, as His Glory has been allowed to be released.

I believe we are in for exciting times in the body of Christ where lives are going to be changed and transformed so powerfully as the Glory of God is released over our nation and yet at the same time there will be the attack of the enemy that is wanting to take down any that will stand for Christ no matter how it looks.
I know for myself I am certainly aware and to be honest a little 'fearful', of what is coming and am asking the Lord for courage and the boldness that is found only in Him.  And I have experienced a supernatural boldness in times of this, like that of Stephen found in the book of Acts and a joy that far outweighs and exceeds any attack that the enemy brings.

I read this a few days ago in Jeremiah 32:38 -41 and it spoke to me "They will be my people, and I will be their God.  I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me for their own good and the good of their children after them.  I will make an everlasting covenant with them:  I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me.  I will rejoice in going them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul".

There is a 'fear in the Lord' that is good and I believe the Lord is releasing in His Glory, a Holy fear of Him, a fear that leads us to him, not away from Him.   He is love and all his gifts to us are good and so although there may be some testing times ahead, it will be for our good and not only for our good, but also for the generations to come.

Psalm 91: "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust."  Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence.  He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.  You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day.......v9 If you make the Most High your dwelling - even the Lord, who is my refuge - then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.  For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;"

The lie of a lack of spiritual fathers and mothers

My ponderings this morning.

I believe we have a generation (of which I am a part of) at the moment who believe that there were not the spiritual mothers and fathers who taught them in the things of the spirit; of the way they should go etc. I believe to some extent there is truth, we don’t seem to have seen the ‘spiritual hero’s’ that we want to follow in our daily worlds around us. But I also believe that our generation or those who don’t believe there have been the spiritual parents, actually need to repent for not honouring the ones that the Lord has put in their lives and in which we have not received them as such and honoured what they inputted into our lives.

There have always been people around us sowing into our lives, sowing truth, sowing help and hope, but because it has not come the way we expect it, we have not honoured what those people have brought. Sometimes too those people sow into our lives with truth that we don’t want to hear and so we walk away from those who are the people that God has placed in our lives for our good. But in walking away and not honouring what they brought, what they have said, then we have reaped what we have sown and believe a lie that we don’t have spiritual parents in the Lord and so don't receive what they bring.  In actual fact we have many, we just have not honoured the ones that the Lord has given us.

Father forgive us for not honouring the people around us that you have put into our lives for our good. Father thank you for those people who have spoken truth, who have tried to help us even when we have not seen it. Father for those ones we have hurt along the way without even realising it, forgive us, and help us to see the people in our lives that you have given us and to honour them.

Dirty cups and rocking houses.

The past few weeks have been a real challenge for me as The Lord has shown me different things and the challenge has come in how to share the things He has shown me.

I have had several dreams.  One where I saw before we worshipped there were still dirty cups that needed cleaning out before we could worship.  As I went to wash these cups out, my Father and Mother gave me some ashtrays to take back with me to the meeting.

Another picture I had was of a beautiful Christian family that I know and I was meeting them in their lounge and as we were talking their house started to sway and I saw their foundations were in sand.

So firstly the one of the cups needing cleaning.  That talks about the inside of people needing to be cleaned out before they come to The Lord for worship.  I believe The Lord is trying to show us that coming to him 'dirty' is not what he wants.  For me that makes sense.  When you go to someone's house for a meal, you do not go in your dirty clothes from work but you have a shower, get cleaned up and then go out.  I believe it is the same for The Lord, too many of us are coming to worship, are coming to him, but not taking the time to get cleaned up before coming to him.  We are coming with our stains, our hearts, our sorrows, our walls up and so when we come we cannot actually have relationship with The Lord because there are walls up around our hearts.  The ashtrays can represent according to a dream interpretation book,  things like sorrow, oppression, bitterness etc.  And I believe The Lord is saying those are things that make you dirty, that hinders the fullness of the relationship with The Lord.  The Lord has made you clean when you came to Christ but once made clean we have a responsbility in the Lord to keep ourselves clean.  Like at the beginning of each day you get dressed and go to work but through the day you get dirty and need a shower sometimes before you go to bed or the next morning, so it is with the Lord.  There are things that happen during the day, in our lives that bring a stain to the inside of our hearts and these are the things that need attention.    He wants us to worship Him in spirit and in truth and these things like sorrow and bitterness is actually not coming from a place of truth in our hearts, to some level I believe, and have seen in my own life.  Unless you deal with these, unless you get rid of this sort of stuff, you cannot have fellowship with The Lord and with the Holy Spirit.

Eccl 7:3 says "Sorrow is better than laughter because a sad face is good for the heart.  The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning but the heart of fools is in the house of pleasure".  These things mentioned above like sorrow and bitterness etc. are actually really good for us as it shows us the state of our heart, but it also makes us question about why we feel the way we feel.
And in the questioning, in the sorrow, or the bitterness, The Lord is leading us to truth if we allow Him too and don't shut off the process of pain, so as that we can be healed.  The Lord's desire is that we be free with nothing that hinders as we come to worship as He has set us free, but some of us stay in bondage because we don't know truth and perhaps are not willing to deal with it or see it.
The Lord wants to set you free so that you can live a life of joy and of peace and of hope but things like sorrow and bitterness rob you of what you can have in The Lord, the fullness of joy.  And so that is why in Eccl 7 sorrow is better than laughter because it makes you take a look at areas of your heart that are in pain and if you allow, The Lord wants to bring truth and healing and freedom to it.

The other dream I had about the beautiful christian couple whose house was actually on the sand too is a picture that could be taken the wrong way but actually what The Lord is wanting to do is show you the truth and reality of the state of your house, not so as to be judged, but for you to learn things so that when the storms come in life, you will not be hurt, you will not be moved as once again he wants so much more for you than where things are at right now.  In Luke 7 it talks of the story about houses built on sand and those built on the rock, and the difference being that your house will be built on rock when you put into action the Jesus words.  Verse 47 says "I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice.  He is like a man building a house who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock.  When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it because it was well built."  The other day The Lord showed me a picture of my own house and I saw a flood underneath my foundations to a metre under our deck but it didn't come any further and I was safe and that is the place that we want to be, knowing that when those storms come and they will that our house will not be washed away.  Those storms can be anything from the loss of a job, from a diagnose of cancer, to the loss of a loved one, or even words friends would say that would hurt you.  Whatever it may be, the Lords heart for us is to be able to stand through whatever trial and temptation comes our way and hence the pictures he has given me to share because there are those right now that are looking good on the outside but the truth of the matter is another story.  For myself The Lord showed me that there was a flood but that we were safe but I also know that Jim and I have been digging down deep and putting into practise the words that Jesus has shown us and that it has cost us many things in doing so, but as we have done this the joy of The Lord has just become such a deep thing that whenever things come to challenge me, I tend to just laugh now because I know whose hands I am in and that nothing that can come against me will shake me, yet at the same time remaining in a position that knows that without The Lord I cannot stand, and without The Lord holding me up I will fall because I can do nothing in my own strength and the moment I think I am standing firm, then I have done it in my strength and I need to be careful.

I don't know how I will react to the different things that come but I just have to trust that Jesus does and He is my rock, my refuge in times of trouble and I will run into him.

The Walls of our heart are being broken down.

Earlier last week I had this dream and in this dream my friend was crying and then I went outside and it was raining.  Then I found myself inside a room and there was this very tall man telling stuff in the middle of the walls to go and as it went there was this horrible noise that screamed as it went and then people's eyes were being opened and it was a time of rejoicing.

For me I see this very much what I believe the Lord is doing, that the Lord is crying, is weeping for his people and he is sending the rain of revival and speaking to the walls in peoples hearts that have held them captive for so long, the walls of regret, walls of disappointment, of failure, of hurt and rejection, of things that have been lost or stolen such as dreams and visions that yet have not come to pass, that has caused a wall to go up in peoples hearts that actually hinder hope and faith being fully released.  For whatever reason that people have put walls up to protect themselves and the Lord is removing those things that have held people captive and in a place of not seeing who He is and His love for them and His healing and forgiveness.  And in so doing peoples eyes are going to be opened in a way that they have not seen before and it will be a time of rejoicing and celebration.

I was reading the book "Crossroads" by Paul Young earlier on and he wrote something that summed something up for me so beautifully.   "Walls divide, but boundaries honour".  Walls divide us and cause separation between one another, between God, in every sphere of relationship.  But the Lord wants to break down those walls in your heart and come into a new place of trust, of rest and of healing and to bring honour.

I encourage you in this time to allow Him to teach you to surrender, to teach you what it means to open up your heart in a good and healthy way that not only honours you and honours those around you.  I encourage you to believe that the Lord is bringing hope and faith again into situations, into relationships, into dreams.  That is who He is, as it says in 1 Cor 13, these three remain, Faith, Hope & Love.

Advance and Expansion are the words

There is certainly a massive shift happening at the moment in God's Kingdom, rule and reign being released here on the earth.  We have been in such transition and repositioning in the body of Christ for such a long time it seems but people are coming into their places, into their positions, the call for advance has been sounded and taking hold of those places that had long been held by the enemy are now ours for the taking.  Expansion is the word so be prepared for the unexpected, the miraculous, the provision, the joy, the authority to rise up and declare the word and works of the Lord in ways that will astound you.  Those things that you have been sowing into for years faithfully honouring the Lord are I believe about to be released in ways that will blow your mind, that will excite you, that will remind you who our God is, the maker of the heavens and the earth and all things are under His authority.

Guest Ministry

Wednesday the 14th of August at Puketaha Hall at 7pm we have a guest ministry coming and all are invited to come along and hear these special people.

Because of security I am not telling you his name but He is from China where he has served 23 years in a labour camp because he would not denouce his leader who was a contemporary of Watchmen Nee.  He is still active in diciplining and mentoring the leadership of the underground church.  He is joined with another person who has planted a chinese church in in Laos and now working with church plants.

There will be a love offering taken so please come prepared.

We also have Nicky Moran joining us in leading worship.

So should be a great night to come along and fellowship together and see what the Lord would say to you.
Bring others along and if able bring some supper to share.
Look forward seeing you there.

What do you do when you feel used?

The other night I had this picture where I had given a friend my beautiful guitar (which recently I have in the natural) and they took it and then you go to see them and they wont come out and see you but they give you the old worn out dusty guitar case back but through their daughter?

To me this was a picture that I had given my best to someone and they turned around and gave me the rubbish back and not through them but through someone else.  This has happened many times to me where I have given my heart and then I hear through someone else something from that person but that person never talks to me.

What do we do with this when it happens to you?  Where you feel used, where you have given everything and then got nothing in return or if you have it has been rubbish?

It is a very painful process and too often when that happens we shut ourselves up and protect our heart in the future so we don't get used or hurt again.  This is our natural response to this sort of pain but that is not the love in which we see Jesus displaying.

To me Jesus is the ultimate example for us to follow.  For me He is the one who understands this sort of pain and rejection.  And He is the one to whom I look as to see what I do.  The word says to protect your heart for it is the wellspring of Life but so many of us I believe see this in a way that is actually not the way I believe Jesus is wanting us to protect our hearts.

Jesus entrusted himself with the one who is just - the Father.  He entrusted his heart to the Father.  The pain he experienced through rejection, through misunderstanding did not stop him from continuing to love and continuing to give to those around him, even when he knew their heart toward him, even when he knew they would betray him, he still gave willingly no matter what it cost him.  That is the call for us as Christians to keep giving, to keep loving, to keep sacrificing even at the cost entrusting your heart with Him who truly knows your pain and trusting him to heal your heart.  To keep our heart soft towards everyone around us.  And we cannot do that without surrendering our pain to Him who knows our heart.  The rejection we suffer is not actually ours to hold onto, it is Jesus' as we are no longer our own and so we need to give him all the rejection, all the pain and not hold onto it just as we need to give him all the glory when things are going well.  It is not us people are rejecting, it is Jesus in us.

So I want to encourage you when people hurt you, when they use you, when you feel misunderstood please take it to Jesus and give it all to him so He can come in and heal you and so your hurt can be turned into amazing grace without bounds which we have all received.  Jesus said at the cross, Father forgive them for they do not know what they do.  We too didn't know what we have done to Jesus and continue to do on a daily basis and yet He forgives us and still gives to us and we don't even see it.  This past weekend Jesus opened my eyes to yet another revelation of where I had been judging someone and in so judging did not see them as Jesus sees them and so I condemn them without even realising it and when that happens and your eyes are opened you remember once again the grace you have been given towards yourself that it enables you to give grace to those around who perhaps you don't feel deserve it.

Who changed my soup?

Has anyone ever read the book "Who moved my cheese?"  If not, a really good little book to read that will challenge the way you think when things shift and the decisions we make when a shift occurs.  While this blog is a little like that book except it is "Who changed my soup?"

I had a dream last night and in this dream I saw four churches in a fun competition with each other making dishes of food for eating.  I was making a big pot of soup but I had forgotten to put the salt in.  The competition thinking I would have put salt in already added a whole another cup of salt to our soup behind our backs.  When we had realised we had to adjust our soup and add things because it was way too salty.  We had to add food that we would not have naturally added and we had no idea what it would turn out like.  We were having to create something that was out of the ordinary.  But because they had done that, we had ended up making something very creative and tastier and more original than it would normally have been and our church won the competition.

You could have many interpretations to this dream but the thing that spoke to me was of the scripture in Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

I believe there are many people at the moment going through trials and things are not turning out how they intended or saw things happening.  A bit like the soup I was making and the competition coming and adding stuff to the soup in order for it to go wrong.  But because of what the competition did, it pushed us to find other ways to make something that would work and in the end actually enhanced what was produced.  Gods promises in the word all come with a hope and a future no matter what circumstance or situation that you find yourself in.  He says we will have many trials but he will deliver us from them all.  I know that some of the dreams and visions that we have, we often have only one way of seeing them and how you expect them to be or to go, but sometimes we need things to come along that actually lead us in a direction that we had never thought of or that we would not normally go but actually it ends up bringing about something that is way better than the original dream or vision that we saw.
God knows the best he has for us.  We think we know what we see but actually God has something better and unless sometimes unplanned ingredients get added we will never see the bigger picture that He has for us.

I know for ourselves and those who come along to our gatherings that there is change in the wind, that in order to accommodate what is coming then we need to re-evaluate the way things are done now.  We need to move with the Holy Spirit and with what He is doing in order to keep going from glory to glory in the Lord but that change is not always easy.  It will mean a shift in the way it is now and we all like the intimate way it is, but if I am going for something bigger in the Lord then we need to make way for it.  Jim and I are going for revival and so therefore things may need to change to accommodate what that may look like.

So for yourselves personally I want to encourage you to rejoice in your circumstance and look for the new ideas that He may want to bring about that actually will mean something better in the long run, way better than you dreamed, thought or imagined.  He truly does know the best he has for us.

"The Shack" is located at our place at 137 Kiroa Road, R.D. 1 Hamilton which is off Seddon Road which is off Puketaha Road.

Run in such a way as to win the prize. 1 Cor 9:24-27

A couple of nights ago had a dream and in this dream I saw myself running on the road and going around the block and looking at houses, some of them old and run down.  Then the second time I went out I saw myself running down the road again and I saw some christian friends that I know gathered in a party type gathering, and I found myself crossing over the street moving on from the party and I continued down the road with a sense of not wanting to go back.

Several things spoke to me in this dream.
One; that I was looking at old and run down houses as I ran.
Two; that the second time I went out I crossed the road from my friends who were gathered and continued on running.

Firstly just like our physical houses, we don't let them get rundown and if we have maintenance to do, we get on to it before it becomes too big and it is costly to maintain and keep a house in good repair but we do it because it is necessary. So too our spiritual houses, we need to look after our spirit, we may  need to do upkeep, a bit of renovation work and protect our property from the weather conditions or from whatever may cause damage, perhaps rats getting in a hole and we need to block the hole so they can't come in and it may cost us in getting things sorted in such a way where our spiritual house is in good condition and well maintained and not run down and falling apart.

Secondly in our lives we are going to have to make decisions and perhaps avoid those things or let those people go in our lives that hold us in a place or don't encourage us on and continue to run the race that we are called to.  Sometimes we need to make decisions that in the long run will benefit, but in the short term may mean a sacrifice that is costly and perhaps at the loss of friends.  We need to know what we are aiming for in life because when you know what your yes is, then you know what your no is.  Find out what your 'yes' is, what it is that you are aiming at.

I had a choice when running whether to continue on the side of the road I was on, or go into the party but I choose to avoid it and run on the other side of the road and this is where I want to encourage you.  Run your life that you avoid the things that would be pitfalls to you and lead you down a path that perhaps is not what the Lord has called you to.  It may be what He has called them to, but your path may be different.

Hebrew 12 speaks straight to this in such a way it is so powerful and I have put the whole verses here although a bit of a long read because it is so good and there is so much in it.
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.  And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons;
"My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."
Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons.  For what son is not disciplined by his father?  If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.  Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it.  How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live!  Our fathers disciplines us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness.  No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.  Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."

Although there is a cost to our decisions either way, good or bad, the decision we make towards Christ, towards his righteousness in our lives, towards the callings on our lives, will only lead to life, not only for us, but also to those around us.  It will not only be valuable in keeping our spiritual houses in great condition for the long haul but also there will be an inheritance for your family that will remain.   For me in this dream I had to move away from christian friends and go on the other side of the road and that hurt me a great deal but I had to let them go and leave them to live their lives in the Lord.  Sometimes the path you are called to run is very lonely and you leave behind those gathered onto a solitary journey but one that the Lord is with you in encouraging you to keep going.  He is on the sideline cheering you on as you run.

1 Cor 9-24-27  "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?  Run in such a way as to get the prize."  Lets not be a people that get distracted by all sorts of things along the way but keep our focus on where we are heading and decide today to perhaps avoid or move away from those things that would cause damage and choose to run into your future, run into those things the Lord has for you even at the cost of perhaps your friends, your family, your job.
